Race 1

This is a weak Maiden Plate for the girls and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is GUEST GETORIXX from the Alyson Wright yard. She was running on when third over this distance on the turf last time. She has finished second three times from four starts over this C&D. She meets the right field this afternoon and may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

MORGAN LA FAY took on winners in the Non-Black Type BSA Sales Cup (Fillies) last time. It must be noted that Feather Boa has come out and won again since. Her penultimate run over this C&D was decent. She is back in Maiden Company and with a bit of luck in running, she can feature.

I’VE GOT WINGS lacked extra late when facing males in her last start. Her penultimate run over this C&D against winners was encouraging. Keagan de Melo takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

Race 2

ICE SUNSATION finished 1.95 lengths behind ROTUNDA last time. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The daughter of Vercingetorix tries the blinkers for the first time and if the headgear has the desired effect, she should be the one to beat.

ROTUNDA was running on when second over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. She has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

KIND JUDY hails from the visiting Barend Botes and Yolandie Vosloo yard. She has very good consistent form lines to her credit. It must be noted that the form of her last outing has been franked. She has won twice, finished second once and third once from five starts over this distance. If all went well with her travels, she should be competitive.

Race 3

LIKETHECLAPPERS ran a fair race in his last start over 2000m. His penultimate run when finishing third over 1700m on this course was encouraging. He is having his peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. He meets the right field and from pole position, should be the one to side with.

DUKE OF AFRICA finished 0.9 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.

RAVENS SWORD set the pace over 1600m last time, but found one too good in the form of Clean Slate. The son of William Longsword tries the 1800m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he may be hard to peg back.

Race 4

HOOVES OF TROY showed good pace over this distance on the turf last time, but found one too good in the form of Dandolo. He has won once and finished second three times from five starts over this trip. Ashton Arries retains the ride and if keeping on a straight line, he should notch up his third career victory.

VALIENTE finished 2.5 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result. All three of his career victories have come over this C&D and he must be included in all bets.

HAMPTON COURT finished 3.1 lengths behind the top selection in the race referred to above. He is likely to race on the speed from his good draw of two and may be hard to peg back.

Race 5

BEECHURST has been taking on stronger company since shedding his maiden tag. The son of Rafeef takes a drop in class and has dropped to a competitive rating. He jumps from a good draw of two and with Robert Khathi in the saddle, he can return to winning ways.

ABSOLUTE VALUE hails from the visiting Fabian Habib yard. He showed good signs of a form return in his last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. It must be noted that Legislate’s Dance has come out and won again since. The pacifiers have done the trick and he should pose a massive threat.

CAPETOWN AFFAIR ran a fair race in his last start over 1200m. His penultimate run when finishing second over this C&D catches the eye. The blinkers remain fitted on the 6yo gelding and he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 6

RADAMES raced from a handy position over 1400m last time and rallied late to finish third behind Camora. He has finished second once and third four times from as many starts on this course. Apprentice Donald Geerthsen takes the 4kgs off his back and on his peak run, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

TRACK COMMANDER clipped heels at the 1400m mark last time. The cheekpieces have made a difference on the son of Gimmethegreenlight. With a bit of luck in running, he should be one of the leading contenders.

GENTLEMAN’S WAY raced wide around the turn last time, but stayed on to finish third. He finished 0.9 lengths behind the second choice in his penultimate start. He is 1kg worse off at the weights and may battle to turn the form around.

Race 7

FORWARD SPELL was an easy winner of his last start over 2000m on this course. He quickened up well, moved up and won easier than the official margin suggests. He received a four-pound penalty for that victory and against similar opposition, he should take a power of beating.

IMMEASURABLE set the pace over 2000m at Turffontein last time and stayed on to finish fourth. He jumps from pole position and if suited to the surface, he should be hard to peg back.

BANZAI PIPELINE was running on when third over 1600m on this course last time. The manner in which he finished off his race that day suggests that he will love the rise to 1900m. If not too far out of his ground turning for home, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 8

INGAKARA raced a from a handy position over 2000m last time, but found one too good in the form of Rockie Reef. She won a good race in her penultimate run over this C&D. The 6yo mare is having her peak run today and from her good draw of four, she should be the one to side with.

IRON CHEF ran on well, but found one too good in the form of Eye Catching last time. She finished 0.4 lengths behind the top choice, three runs ago. She is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.

WEDDING BLISS finished 3.4 lengths behind the second choice last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result
