Race 1

RAIN WEAR was ultra-impressive when winning her last start over this C&D. She quickened up well, took the lead at the 250m mark and won with a ton in hand. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. She received a six-pound penalty for that victory, but may still be ahead of the handicapper and she can notch up the hat-trick.

MEL’S PRINCESS finished 3.1 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. If Robert Khathi is able to switch her off early, she should be competitive.

OWLETTE finished 3.55 lengths behind the top selection in the race referred to above. She is 3kgs better off at the weights which is not enough to turn the tables, but she should finish closer.

Race 2

FLYING PETER should have finished closer last time as he was carried off his line at the 300m mark. He has won twice, finished second once and third once from six starts over this C&D. He takes a slight drop in class and will be finishing his race off strongly.

MR MOLONY ran on powerfully to win his last start over this C&D. He returns from a well-deserved 10-week break which may have done him the world of good. If not in need of the run, he can notch up the hat-trick.

PREEMPTIVE STRIKE was a tad disappointing in his last start over 1200m. He has finished second twice and third once from six starts over this distance. On best form shown, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 3

NEVER ENDING RAIN is the best bet on the card. He ran a good race when finishing third in the Grade 3 Byerley Turk last time. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He is having his first run on the polytrack and if suited, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

PARTY TIME set the pace in his last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Hollywoodbets Scottsville and kept all challengers at bay. He finished 3.45 lengths behind the top choice in his penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms and he may have to settle for the same result.

GIMME A PRINCE returns from a lengthy 49-week break, during which time he was gelded.

Race 4

REX UNION got going too late when finishing third in the Non-Black Type Highland Night Cup last time. He was an impressive winner in his penultimate start over 2400m at Durbanville. He won his only attempt over this C&D. The son of Duke Of Marmalade drops in class and is the horse to beat.

FIGHT SONG should have finished closer to the winner last time as he had to be switched at the 600m mark. Two of his career victories have come on this course. He jumps from pole position and should be one of the leading contenders.

EARL was squeezed at the start last time and had to switch at the 600m mark. He will enjoy the extra 100m on offer and with a bit of luck in running, he should fight out the finish.

Race 5

QUEUE WING showed very good signs of a form return in his last start over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Hollywoodbets Scottsville. The manner in which he finished off his race that day caught the eye. He won his only attempt over this distance and should be cherry-ripe. He takes a drop in class and from pole position, he may be the one to side with.

NAPOLEON followed up his maiden win with a good second-place finish over 1550m on this course. He was unlucky that day as he was baulked for running room between the 400m mark and the 300m mark. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

STATEOFUSA ran a fair race in his post maiden run over 1600m. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He should strip a much fitter horse and can feature.

Race 6

This is a competitive Merit Rated 68 Handicap and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is CAESURA from the Alyson Wright yard with Richard Fourie in the saddle. He is better than his last start as the jockey reported something to be amiss. He returns from an 11-week break which may have done him the world of good. He finished 0.2 lengths behind STAR CRUSADE three runs ago and is 1kg better off at the weights. If not in need of the run, he should go close to winning.

CATCH THE TUNE ran a good race when finishing second over 2000m on this course, six weeks ago. The drop in trip is a slight concern, but he takes a drop in class and should contest the finish.

VALENCIA’S last two starts have been good. He raced from a handy position last time and stayed on at the finish. The son of Eightfold Path cannot be ignored.

Race 7

DANILO DANILOVITCH was doing his best work late when second over 1200m on the Turffontein Inside course last time. He has won twice from four starts over this distance. He gets the blinkers fitted which should sharpen him up and if suited to the polytrack, he may be the horse to beat.

SPANISH BOY produced a strong finish when second over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time. He has won once, finished second three times and third twice from as many starts over this trip. Warren Kennedy retains the ride and he should go close.

AQUA BOLT fought hard for his last victory over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Hollywoodbets Scottsville. Two of his five career victories have come over this distance. He returns from a 12-week break and if not in need of the run, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 8

THE TINKERMAN was an easy winner when shedding his maiden tag over this distance at Kenilworth. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He does take on stronger, but is lightly raced and has plenty of scope. If suited to the surface, he can follow up.

PHINDA MZALA was not disgraced when finishing third against stronger company last time. He raced from just off the pace and stayed on at the finish. 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Gabriel Pieterse steps back into the saddle and the pair merit healthy respect.

JOSHUA HOTSNAKE won a good race in his last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He raced from just off the pace, found a kick and won with ease. With a bit of luck from his wide draw of ten, he should be competitive
