Race 1

I LIKE IT HOT produced a promising debut effort over this distance on the turf, three weeks ago. She was green in running, but finished her race off strongly. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The daughter of What A Winter would have gained from the experience and if suited to the Polytrack, she should be the horse to beat.

SEA OF TEARS showed good improvement when finishing third over this distance on the turf last time. She showed good pace but was caught in the shadow of the post. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. She is a progressive type and should be one of the leading contenders.

COPPER VIEW is an unraced daughter of Global View from the Gavin van Zyl stable with Warren Kennedy in the saddle. She is related to multiple winners and if not too green, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances.

Race 2

GUEST GETORIXX is lightly raced with decent form lines to her credit. She showed good pace in her last start over this C&D, but found one too good in the form of Vision Of Will. The daughter of Vercingetorix is having her peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. Keagan de Melo takes the ride and he may be able to get the best out of her.

NAMAQUA DOVE ran a fair race in her comeback run over this C&D. She would have come on from the run and will strip fitter. Richard Fourie takes the ride and should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

LADIES DAY finished 1.5 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 4kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around.

Race 3

IN THE SUMMERTIME has run three fair races to date. He stayed on nicely at the finish over 1600m last time and will enjoy the step up to 2000m. The son of Noble Tune has plenty of scope and if suited to the surface, he can shed his maiden tag.

BLAZING LIGHT has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. He finished second in his penultimate run over this C&D. The cheekpieces get re-fitted and he will be staying on at the business end.

NATIONAL DREAM should have finished closer last time as he was carried wide at the 1300m mark. The son of Rafeef tries the 2000m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 4

WAVE WARRIOR produced an encouraging comeback run over 1200m on this course. The manner in which he stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. He finished second in his only attempt over this distance. The son of Act Of War will strip a much fitter horse and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, he should be the horse to beat.

CLEAN SLATE has fair recent form lines to his credit. He has been gelded since his last outing, which may have done the trick. He drops to the 1400m and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

FLEET COMMANDER is an unraced son of Captain Of All from the Dean Kannemeyer stable with Keagan de Melo in the saddle. If not too green, he should give a good account of himself. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.

Race 5

RUNNING RIFLES has good consistent form lines to his credit. He should have finished closer last time as he was carried outwards in the latter stages. He has won once and finished second four times from as many starts over this distance. The son of Vercingetorix will strip a much fitter horse and may be the one to side with.

PATH TO FORTUNE was doing his best work late when finishing fourth over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He will enjoy the step up to 1400m and from pole position, should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

MR MOLONY was his own worst enemy in his comeback run as he overraced in the early stages. He will strip a much fitter horse today and if Serino Moodley is able to switch him off early, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 6

QUEEN OF SHADOWS was her own worst enemy in the Grade 2 WSB Fillies Guineas last time as she overraced in the early stages. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won a Grade 1 since. Her two starts prior to that outing were encouraging. She won her only attempt over this distance. The daughter of Vercingetorix returns to handicap company and she is the horse to beat.

PETRA finished 1.1 lengths behind BOLDLY GO last time. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. From her good draw of four, she should be one of the leading contenders.

BOLDLY GO was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over this C&D. She raced from a handy position, quickened up well and won going away. She is in a good space and merits healthy respect.

Race 7

IMPARTIAL should have finished closer in his last start as he hung in the latter stages. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Donald Geerthsen and will strip much fitter. If keeping on a straight line, he should return to winning ways.

VALIENTE finished 1.1 lengths behind CHARA SANDS last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He will be at peak fitness and merits obvious inclusion.

CHARA SANDS showed good speed when winning his last start over this C&D. He received a three-pound penalty for that victory and meets a similar field. From pole position, he can follow up.

Race 8

This is a competitive Merit Rated 67 Handicap for the girls and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is MAGICALLEE from the Kumaran Naidoo stable. She ran a good race when finishing second over this C&D, last week Wednesday. She shows good speed in her races and if this run has not come too soon, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

BECKONING BEAUTY finished 0.1 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms and there should not be much separating them once again.

KILEIGH’S FATE was an easy winner of her last start over 1200m on this course. She finished 1.2 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run. She is 3.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around
