Race 1

SECRET IDENTITY was considered good enough to take her place in the Grade 3 Strelitzia Stakes on debut over 1100m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She lost three lengths leaving the start and understandably raced green. The daughter of Canford Cliffs would have gained from the experience and it is encouraging that Richard Fourie steps into the saddle. With the natural improvement that is expected, she can go close to winning.

MAURITANIA produced a promising debut effort over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She showed good speed and stayed on well to finish third. Her wide draw of 13 is an obvious concern, but with the services of Gavin Lerena, she cannot be ignored.

PRANKSTER showed signs of needing her debut effort over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She would have come on from the run and will enjoy the extra furlong on offer. The daughter of Canford Cliffs should make the natural progression.

Race 2

KUMEMORI should have finished closer to the winner last time as he hung in the closing stages. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The son of Gold Standard has his first run on this course and with a bit of luck in running, he may be the one to beat in this line-up.

RAFA’S BOY finished 0.4 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line. He would have come on from the outing and should strip much fitter.

BEDTIME STORY ran a fair race on debut over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Mambo In Seattle would have come on from the run and should make the natural progression under Richard Fourie.

Race 3

INDIAN OCEAN hails from the visiting Paul Matchett stable. She produced a decent debut effort over 1600m at Turffontein. The daughter of The United States took time to find her feet, but the manner in which she finished off her race was encouraging. She will love the rise to 1900m and if all went well with her travels, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

PIXIE IN LOVE took on male company last time and found one too good in the form of Dontstopmenow. She may be at her best on the polytrack but S’manga Khumalo may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

QUEEN BRITANNA is better than her last two starts suggest. She took on winners in her penultimate outing and had excuses in her last run. On best form shown, she can feature.

Race 4

DO IT AGAIN did not settle in the Grade 1 WSB Cape Town Met last time and understandably lacked extra in the closing stages. He has won three times and finished third once from as many starts over this C&D. The 8yo gelding thrives in KZN and if not in need of this run, he is capable of notching up his tenth career victory.

UNION SQUARE is better than his last start in the Grade 1 Hollywoodbets Cape Guineas. He won a good race in the Grade 2 Jonsson Workwear Dingaans in his penultimate run. He finished third in his only attempt on this course and on best form shown, he can pose a threat.

CAPTAIN FONTANE has good consistent form lines to his credit. It must be noted that the horse that finished third in his last outing has come out and won since. He has won twice and finished second twice from five starts on this course. The son of Captain Al merits healthy respect.

Race 5

ROCKIE REEF stayed on when fourth over 1750m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. The daughter of Jackson would have come on from the run and will strip much fitter. She carries a handy galloping mass of 54.5kgs and from pole position, she may be the one to side with.

CAPETOWN BEAUTY ran a fair race in the Non-Black Type 4Racing Sun Chariot Handicap last time. Her penultimate run over 2600m against male company was encouraging. She is drawn widest of all, but gets the services of Gavin Lerena who will give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

LET’S NOT LINGER is better than her last start over 1200m as the distance is too short for her. She will love the rise to 1800m and on previous form, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 6

TIME FLIES won a very good race in her last start over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. She set her own fractions up front, found another kick and drew off in the closing stages. The daughter of Dynasty returns from a well-deserved 12-week break. She finished third in her penultimate run over this distance. From pole position, she may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.

DAWNOFANEWDAY got the upper hand late when winning the Listed WSB Scarlet Lady. She tries the 2000m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she can follow up.

SISTER LIGHT should have finished closer to the second choice last time. Richard Fourie retains the ride and if keeping on a straight line, she should be competitive.

Race 7

ARAGOSTA showed some signs of needing his comeback run in the Grade 1 WSB Premier’s Champions Challenge last time. He raced from a handy position and stayed on at the finish. The son of Rafeef would have come on from the run and will strip much fitter. This run will bring him to his peak, but he still has the class to notch up his fifth career victory.

RASCALLION should have finished closer in the Grade 1 WSB Cape Town Met last time as he was carried outwards at the 250m mark. He returns from a well-deserved 15-week break and despite his big mass of 62kgs, he should pose a massive threat.

QUASIFORSURE was ultra-impressive when winning his last start over 1400m on this course. He ran on well and drew clear of the opposition. The son of Quasillo tries the 1900m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 8

STRAWBERRY BEAR was ridden to perfection when winning the Grade 3 Byerley Turk last time. He was sent to the front and kept finding to hold all challengers at bay. It must be noted that the horse that finished fifth that day has come out and won since. He has won twice and finished second once from four starts over this distance. From his good draw of four, he can notch up his fourth victory on the trot.

TREAD SWIFTLY won a good race over 1160m at Turffontein last time. He lost a length leaving the start, but produced a strong finish. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

AFTER THE RAIN showed good speed when third in his last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. He does have the speed to overcome his wide draw of 12 and may be hard to peg back.

Race 9

PONTE PIETRA has produced two good runs since winning his maiden over this distance at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. He lost a length leaving the start last time, but the manner in which he finished off his race was encouraging. He would have come on from the run and will strip much fitter. He takes a drop back in class and despite his wide draw of 10, he should be too good for this field.

LUCKY DOLLAR moved up like a winner last time, but was caught in the shadow of the post by Money Heist. He is in a good space and merits healthy respect.

CAPTAINOFTHEGREEN is better than his last start in the Grade 1 WSB SA Classic. He returns from a 10-week break, during which time he was gelded. He won his only attempt over this C&D and if not in need of the run, he should give a good account of himself.

Race 10

JUST BE NICE raced wide around the turn over 1600m at Turffontein last time, but the manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. She finished third in her only attempt over this distance. The daughter of Captain Of All takes a slight drop in class and from her good draw of four, she can notch up her fourth career victory.

ORIENTAL BOUQUET was a surprise winner on debut over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. The daughter of Danon Platina takes on stronger, but she could be anything and may be up to the task at hand.

DANSE MILORD was ultra-impressive when winning her last start over 1600m on the Polytrack. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. She jumps from a good draw of two and can run into the money
