RACE 1

This is a weak Maiden Plate and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is MISS TUCKER from the Jacques Strydom stable. She stayed on when fourth over this distance on the Polytrack last time. Her best career effort came under this work rider, three runs ago. The daughter of Greys Inn gets the blinkers fitted for the first time and the headgear should keep her mind on the task at hand. She meets the right field and can shed her maiden tag.

SIBERIAN FOX did not go on with the effort over 1200m on this course last time. He shows good speed in his races and if putting his best foot forward, he should be hard to peg back.

SUCCESSFUL LADY was in need of her debut effort over 1200m on the Polytrack. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She would have come on from the run and with just 54.5kgs on her back, she should improve to be competitive.

RACE 2

ILHA DA MAURICIA hails from the visiting Brett Crawford stable. She stayed on when third over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time. The daughter of Silvano finished second in her only attempt over this distance. She does not meet a strong field and from pole position, she should find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

PONDEROSA PINE took the lead at the 1100m mark last time, but was outrun late by Salient Point. She finished third in her only attempt over this C&D, three runs ago. Muzi Yeni retains the ride and should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

ANNA KARENINA’S last two starts have been fair. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in her last outing has come out and won since. If all went well with her travels, she should earn another cheque for her patrons.

RACE 3

SAFE RETURN showed some signs of a form return in the Non-Black Type Fairview Flying Five last time. He stumbled leaving the stalls, but the manner in which he finished off his race that day was encouraging. The tongue-tie seems to have done the trick and over the extra 400m on offer, he is capable of returning to winning ways.

FERRARI ICE has good consistent form lines to his credit. He raced wide around the turn over 1600m last time and understandably lacked a finish in the straight. He has won twice and finished second twice from five starts over this C&D. The services of 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Siyanda Sosibo should help his cause.

SLINGS AND ARROWS stayed on when third over 1600m on this course last time. It must be noted that Bush Tracker has come out and won again since. He is versatile and must be included in all bets.

RACE 4

This is a tricky Merit Rated 78 Handicap and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is BRENDEN JAMES from the Kelly Mitchley stable. He received a bump leaving the start last time, but quickened up well down the lane and won with a ton in hand. He received a seven-pound penalty for the victory. The son of Coup De Grace takes a rise in class, but he is in a good space and can notch up the hat-trick.

EQUESTRIAN AFFAIR ran on powerfully when winning his last start over 1600m on the Polytrack. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. S’manga Khumalo retains the ride and the combination merit healthy respect.

BOURNEMOUTH was an easy winner when shedding his maiden tag over 1600m last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He is the stable elect with Richard Fourie in the saddle and should give a good account of himself.

RACE 5

AND WE DANCED finished 1 length behind stable companion, WINGS OF FIRE last time. She is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She has won three times and finished second twice from as many starts over this C&D. Despite her big mass of 62kgs, she should notch up her eighth career victory.

BELLE OF BELIZE won a good race in her last start over 1400m on this course. She may be at her best over shorter distances, but has the class to be involved in the finish.

EKORIA is better than her last start in the Oaks Plate. She won a good race in her penultimate outing over this C&D. Apprentice Siyanda Sosibo takes the 2.5kgs off her back and she should give her older rivals a run for their money.

RACE 6

VISION OF WONDER showed good speed before winning the Listed East Cape Nursery with ease last time. The son of Visionaire is now unbeaten from two starts over this C&D. He is a horse with class and should be hard to catch in the run down to the line.

LUNA HALO won a good race in the Listed East Cape Fillies Nursery last time. The manner in which she quickened up and drew away from the opposition was eye-catching. The daughter of Fire Away clearly has ability and should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

GOLDEN SICKLE hails from the visiting Justin Snaith stable. She showed pace in her last start over 1100m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth, but found one too good in the form of October Morn. If all went well with her travels, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

RACE 7

PERFECTION was a beaten favourite in the Derby Plate last time. He finished 2.5 lengths behind HEATHCLIFF that day. He is 3kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He tries the 2400m for the first time and if allowed to dictate his own terms in front, he may be hard to peg back.

HEATHCLIFF won a good race in the Derby Plate last time. The manner in which he finished off his race that day suggests that he will have no issues with the step up in distance. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

COSMIC EVENT found betting support when winning his last start over 2000m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. He makes the trip to the Eastern Cape in good form and it is encouraging that Grant van Niekerk retains the ride. If all went well with his travels, he should go close to winning.

RACE 8

BLONDE ACT is better than his last start suggests as the jockey reported something to be amiss in running. It must be noted that Bush Tracker has come out and won again since. The son of Act Of War will love the step up to 1900m. He jumps from a good draw of two and can notch up his seventh career victory.

ZIG ZAG stayed on when third over this distance on the Polytrack last time. He finished 2 lengths behind the top choice, three runs ago. He is 1kg worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result. JACOB’S LADDER finished 5.25 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may battle to turn the form around.

Race 9

Trainer Gavin Smith holds a strong hand in the lucky last and the first selection is GREAT MELODY. He showed good speed over 1200m last time, but was outrun late by Pedro. He has won twice and finished third once from as many starts over this C&D. The son of Great Britain is in a good space and may be the one to beat.

COASTAL PATH has shown signs of a form return in his last two starts. He takes a slight drop in class and will be involved at the finish.

SLIM JANNIE ran a good race when second in his local debut over this distance on the Polytrack. He would have come on from the run. Apprentice Siyanda Sosibo takes the 2.5kgs off his back and the 3yo gelding should be competitive
