Race 1

RAPIDASH produced an encouraging debut effort over 1100m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth, against winners. He lost a length leaving the start, but finished his race off nicely. The son of Danon Platina would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should be the one to beat.

FUTURE FLO was a tad disappointing over 1000m last time. His penultimate run when third over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville was encouraging. If keeping on a straight line, he should be one of the leading contenders.

BEDTIME STORY ran a good race when second over this C&D last time. He finished 3.3 lengths behind the second choice on debut. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.

Race 2

KINGDOM OF GOLD ran a good race on debut over 1160m at Turffontein. She was slow into stride, but raced from just off the pace before getting outrun late. The daughter of Pomodoro would have come on from the run and if not too green around the turn, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

BITCOIN BABY produced a good effort when second over 1400m on this course last time. She moved up well that day, but was outrun late by Miss Shaivi. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

KNOCKOUT took time to find her feet on debut, but the manner in which she finished off her race was encouraging. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Danon Platina would have come on from the run and should make the natural progression.

Race 3

BEVIES DELIGHT produced a good effort in the Grade 3 Dennis Drier Poinsettia Stakes last time. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. She was unlucky not to have won her penultimate run over this C&D as she had no luck in the straight. Apprentice Siphesihle Hlengwa takes the 1.5kgs off her back and from pole position, she can notch up her second career victory.

WARSHIP finished 1.15 lengths behind ANCIENT EPIC last time. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The daughter of Coup De Grace will be mowing down the frontrunners.

SABATINI was caught in the shadow of the post by ANCIENT EPIC last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should turn the form around. She shows good speed in her races and may be hard to peg back.

Race 4

UNION SQUARE was in need of his comeback run over this C&D last time. He finished 1.8 lengths behind IMPOSING that day. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He would have come on from the run and will strip a much fitter horse. Keagan de Melo takes the ride and on best form shown, he may be the one to beat.

IMPOSING’S last two starts have been decent, the latest of which was over this C&D. He carries another handy galloping mass of 53.5kgs and must be included in all bets.

NOBLE CITY was doing his best work late when 2 lengths behind the winner over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He carries a nice weight of 53.5kgs and should go close to winning.

Race 5

SHANGO is better than his comeback run suggests as he was reported to be coughing post-race. He would have come on from the outing and will strip much fitter. The 6yo gelding loves racing at this time of the year and won this race last year. It is encouraging that Gavin Lerena steps back into the saddle and from his good draw of three, he can defend his title.

ONE WAY TRAFFIC ran a creditable race in the Grade 2 WSB 1900 last time. He lost a length leaving the start, but the manner in which he stayed on at the finish was encouraging. He would have come on from the run and is one of the leading contenders.

ARAGOSTA was disappointing in the Grade 2 WSB 1900 last time. He finished 1.95 lengths behind the second choice that day. The pair meet on the same weight terms and he may have to settle for the same result.

Race 6

This is a competitive Woolavington 2000 field. The tentative first selection is RAIN IN HOLLAND from the Sean Tarry stable. She was unlucky not to have won the Grade 1 WSB Premier’s Champions Challenge last time as she was cramped for galloping room in the latter stages. She won her only attempt on this course and is a two-time winner over this distance. S’manga Khumalo steps back into the saddle and from pole position, she may be the one to side with.

MARINA was in need of her last run in the Listed WSB Sweet Chestnut Stakes. She would have come on from the run and will strip much fitter. The 5yo mare won her only attempt over this C&D with ease and if finding the form of that race, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

SILVER DARLING won this race last year. She was running on too late when third over this distance at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth last time. She would have come on from the run and with a bit of luck from the widest draw, she can defend her title.

Race 7

SEE IT AGAIN ran a cracker when second to Charles Dickens in the Grade 2 WSB Guineas last time. He had to be switched outwards at the 200m mark and rallied late to get the better of DAVE THE KING and COUSIN CASEY. The son of Twice Over was super-impressive when winning the Grade 1 SplashOut Cape Derby in his penultimate start over this distance. He will strip a much fitter horse today and may be the one to beat.

COUSIN CASEY stayed on when fourth in the Grade 2 WSB Guineas last time. This will be his third run since his nine-week break after the Grade 1 WSB Cape Town Met. He jumps from pole position and merits healthy respect.

DAVE THE KING has produced two very good runs since joining the Mike de Kock stable. The big son of Global View will love the step up to 2000m. If Craig Zackey is able to switch him off early, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 8

HAWKER TYPHOON ran on from the back of the field when second over 1500m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. She finished 1.1 lengths behind MACARA that day. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line. She is likely to be switched off near the rear of the field from her awkward nine draw and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

MACARA ran a fair race in the Listed WSB Scarlet Lady last time. Three of her six career victories have come on this course. If finding the form of her penultimate run, she should pose a massive threat.

PRINCESS PHILIPPA hails from the visiting Stuart Pettigrew stable. She has won twice and finished third once from seven starts over this distance. If Diego De Gouveia is able to switch her off early, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 9

MAQUETTE ran a good race when third against stronger company over 1000m last time. The manner in which she finished off her race that day suggests that she will enjoy the rise to 1200m. The daughter of Red Ray takes a drop in class and from her good draw of two, she may be the one to side with.

DANCING DORA showed good signs of a form return in her last start over 1000m at Turffontein. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. Gavin Lerena retains the ride and the combination should be competitive.

PALM BREEZE set the pace over this distance on the Polytrack last time, but was outrun late by Bright Star. She has dropped to a competitive rating and with a bit of luck in running, she can go one better
