Race 1
BENNI IN THE AREA raced from a handy position over 1400m on this course last time and stayed on to finish third. He has finished second twice from five starts over this distance. The son of William Longsword meets the right field and with Richard Fourie retaining the ride, he can shed his maiden tag.
MO KING should have finished closer to the winner last time as he hung in the closing stages. He finished 5.5 lengths behind the top choice, three runs ago. He is 2kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.
GENERAL BYNG showed some improvement in his last start over this distance on the polytrack. The son of Erupt is a progressive type and may have more to come
Race 2
FAIRY TRIPP has shown good improvement in each of her outings to date. She lost a length leaving the start over 1200m last time, but the manner in which she finished off her race that day was eye- catching. The daughter of Trippi returns from a 14-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. She meets the right field and if not in need of the run, she should find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
PIECE BY PIECE ran a fair race over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She finished 2.55 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.
WHEN EVENING COMES has fair form lines to her name. She will enjoy the return to 1400m and can earn another cheque for her patrons.
Race 3
MASTER OF THE TURF had to overcome the widest draw on debut over 1400m, on this course. He was settled near the rear of the field after a slow start and the manner in which he finished off his race was encouraging. The son of Master Of My Fate will be at home over the mile. Muzi Yeni takes the ride and he should make the natural improvement.
RUN TO RIO has shown good improvement in each of his outings to date. He steps up to the mile and with a bit of luck from barrier eleven, he should pose a massive threat.
FLAG MAN finished 1.95 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 1.5kgs worse off at the weights today. The son of Flying The Flag would have gained from the experience and should make the natural progression.
Race 4
ASIYE PHAMBILI has won her last two starts well. Despite hanging and shifting away from the crop in the closing stages, she won a lot easier than the official margin suggests last time. The daughter of What A Winter keeps getting better and from pole position, she can notch up the hat-trick
ALPHABETTY finished 1.8 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.
MONASHADA ran a good race when third over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. From her handy draw of five, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 5
LAST GINGER has shown improvement in each of her outings to date. The daughter of Oratorio is having her first run on turf and she should love the rise to 1900m. Kabelo Matsunyane does duty and from pole position, she may be the one to side with in this line-up.
STYLE ICON finished 1.2 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result. If finding the form of her penultimate run, she should be competitive.
WESTOCKMARKETBORSE was touched off in her last start over this C&D. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.
Race 6
CAPE EAGLE ran a fair race in the Grade 3 Hollywoodbets Dolphins Cup Trial before the break. It must be noted that Winchester Mansion has come out and won the Grade 1 Hollywoodbets Durban July since. He has won three times and finished third once from six starts on this course. He is likely to race on the speed and if not in need of the run, he may be hard to peg back.
QUEUE WING stayed on when sixth over 1400m last time. He is having his peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. The 6yo gelding is versatile and on best form shown, he should pose a massive threat.
ADDABAR is a winner of his last two starts, the latest of which was over 1800m on this course. He does take on stronger, but carries a handy galloping mass of 52.5kgs and can notch up the hat-trick.
Race 7
WARRIOR OF ROYALTY was considered good enough to contest in the Grade 1 Gold Medallion last time, but he was reported to be not striding out. He returns from a 19-week break, which may have done him the world of good. The son of Pathfork won his maiden at the second time of asking by 5 lengths. He has ability and if not in need of this outing, he can notch up his second-career victory.
QHAWE LAMI won a good race in the Non-Black Type Farm Sale Stakes on the Turffontein Inside course last time. He has won twice, finished second once and third twice from as many starts over this distance. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
ZIYASHA stayed on when third over this distance at the Vaal last time. Richard Fourie steps back into the saddle and from his good draw of three, he should be involved at the finish.
Race 8
ASPOESTERTJIE finished 1.2 lengths behind CHELSEA FLOWER last time. She is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She has cracked pole position and with 4kgs claiming apprentice Kobeli Lihaba in the saddle, she can return to winning ways.
FRENCH PRINCESS ran a fair race against stronger company last time. She takes a drop-in class and the blinkers may keep her mind on the task at hand. She is one of the leading contenders.
CHELSEA FLOWER has improved in her last two starts over this distance and with the blinkers fitted. She is having her peak run today and may be hard to peg back.
