AUGUST RED showed good improvement in his last start when staying on well at the finish over 1500m. That was his first run with the blinkers fitted and they remain on today. The manner in which he finished off his last start, suggests that he will have no issues with the step up to the ten furlongs. In this type of line-up, he has a good chance of shedding his maiden tag.

BLACKBALL was ultra-impressive when winning the UmThombothi Stakes last time. He was switched off at the back early on and the manner in which he finished off his race was very good. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He is unbeaten from two starts over this c&d and has a good chance of keeping that record intact.

Race 8: MASTER OF DESTIN (1)

Jockey: S Veale - Trainer: D Drier

MASTER OF DESTINY is a good looking son of Master Of My Fate from the Dennis Drier stable. He was running on well at the finish in his last start over seven furlongs and despite shifting away from the crop, he managed to finish a creditable third. His best run to date has been over this c&d on 10 November. If repeating that run and if keeping on a straight line, he may find himself in the winners enclosure.

Jockey: C Habib - Trainer: J van Vuuren

TRUE TO LIFE made the trip down to Cape Town to contest in the Cape Fillies Guineas. She was a tad disappointing that day, but is definitely much better than that effort. She is the best weighted horse in this race and if repeating her penultimate run when winning the Magnolia Handicap, she should get back to winning ways.
