Race 1

LOU LOU THE LEGEND is an unraced son of Ideal World from the Dean Kannemeyer yard with stable jockey Keagan de Melo in the saddle. He is related to five-time winner Naval Guard. If not too green, he should get his career off to a positive start. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.

SIRENS OF SILENCE has shown improvement in his last two starts, the latest of which was over 1400m on this course. He set the pace and stayed on at the finish. The son of Crusade is progressive and should be the first raced runner past the post.

MOON HARVEST was disappointing in his last start on the turf. His debut effort over this C&D catches the eye. He tries the tongue-tie this afternoon and should be involved in the fight to the finish

Race 2

JOHNNY’S HOPE’S last three starts have been good. He raced from a handy position over 1600m last time, fought hard but found one too good in the form of Ravens Sword. The son of Canford Cliffs will love the extra 100m on offer and from his good draw of two, he should take a power of beating.

POLITICAL PARTY should have won his last start as he hung in the closing stages. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

POWER STAR finished 1.3 lengths behind the second choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.

Race 3

AERIAL VIEW has shown good signs of a form return in her last two starts over 1800m on this course. She will enjoy the step up to 2000m. The daughter of Soft Falling Rain takes a drop in class and can return to winning ways.

YOU DESERVE IT ran a creditable race in her first run for the Gary Rich stable. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. She has won once, finished second twice and third once from as many starts over this distance. The 5yo mare will strip a much fitter horse today and is one of the leading contenders.

NAME OF THE GAME stayed on when fifth over 1950m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. She has dropped to a competitive rating and with just 54kgs on her back, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 4

THUNDER MASALA should have won his last start over 2000m on this course. The manner in which he finished off his race that day caught the eye. The son of Global View takes a drop in class and with Serino Moodley back in the saddle, he can go one better.

SECRET GIVER ran a fair race in his last start over 1600m on this course. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He does have the widest draw of ten to overcome but gets the services of Warren Kennedy who will give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

EVENTIDOR got going too late when second over 1800m on this course last time. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. Keagan de Melo retains the ride and from pole position, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 5

BECKONING BEAUTY is better than her last start on the turf. She finished 2.6 lengths behind SWEET SYMPHONY in her penultimate run. She is 7kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. Three of her five career victories have come over this C&D and she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

ETHIOPIAN QUEEN’S last two starts over this C&D have been good. The tongue-tie has done the trick on the daughter of What A Winter. She gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Malesela Katjedi which will help her cause. From her good draw of two, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

SWEET SYMPHONY showed good speed when winning her last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She finished third in her only attempt over this C&D. She is in a good space and merits healthy respect.

Race 6

PHINDA MZALA has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. He raced from just off the pace over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time, but found one too good in the form of Trust The Fire. He is carded to race on 19 September 2022 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.

TRAFALGAR SQUARE finished 0.15 lengths behind VALIENTE last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. Muzi Yeni retains the ride and he should go close to winning.

HAMPTON COURT finished 0.8 lengths behind VALIENTE in the race referred to above. He is also 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should turn the form around.

Race 7

KNIGHT WARRIOR set the pace in his last start over this C&D, but was caught in the shadow of the post by Metallic Gold. He has won twice, finished second three times and third once from eleven starts over this C&D. The 6yo gelding meets a similar type of field this afternoon and he can go one better.

FATHER’S FROST was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over this C&D. He raced from a handy position, quickened up well and got up where it matters most. Kabelo Matsunyane retains the ride and despite his six-pound penalty, he can follow up.

HOOVES OF TROY was not disgraced when fifth against stronger company last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He gets the services of 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Donald Geerthsen and must be included in all bets.

Race 8

COUNT MARSH took the lead at the 350m mark last time, quickened up well and won with a ton in hand. He has won once, finished second once and third once from four starts over this C&D. He received a four-pound penalty for that victory and against similar company, he should follow up.

HIGHER PURPOSE set the pace in his last start over this C&D and kept going well to hold all challengers at bay. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He is likely to adopt the same tactics from his wide draw of nine and may be hard to peg back.

GET CARTER finished 3.1 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today which is not enough to turn the form around, but he should finish closer as a result
