Race 1

QUANABI showed good improvement in her last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She moved up like a winner, but was outrun late by Reginas Angel. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. She finished third in her only attempt over this C&D. The daughter of Querari meets the right field this afternoon and she can go one better.

FORGED IN ICE has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. It must be noted that the form of her last outing has been franked. She finished second in her only attempt over this C&D. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, she should pose a threat.

FASHIONIGMA has produced two fair runs since relocating to KZN. She finished 2 lengths behind the second choice in her penultimate run. She is 1.5kgs worse off at the weights and may battle to turn the form around.

Race 2

WITHOUT QUESTION should have finished closer in his last start over 1400m as he had to be steadied at the 200m mark. The manner in which he finishes off his races suggests that he will love the rise to 1700m. The son of The United States is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. Keagan de Melo takes the ride and the combination should find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.

RAVENS SWORD finished 0.5 lengths behind ROCK FALL last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.

ROCK FALL has shown good improvement in his last two starts. If keeping on a straight line, he should go close to winning.

Race 3

WINTER FLIGHT showed good speed when having to overcome a wide draw last time. He has won twice and finished third twice from six starts over this C&D. In this small field, he should be hard to peg back.

DANILO DANILOVITCH finished 0.35 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 1.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.

GIACOMO PUCCINI finished 3 lengths behind the top selection last time. He is only 0.5kgs better off at the weights today which is not enough for the tables to be turned. He has won once, finished second once and third once from as many starts on this course. The son of Captain Al will strip much fitter and can feature.

Race 4

OUR EMILY stumbled leaving the start last time, but stayed on to finish third over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She finished 2 lengths behind GREEN DREAM in her penultimate outing. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. From pole position, she should return to winning ways.

GREEN DREAM has good recent form lines to her credit. She has won once and finished second four times from eight starts over this C&D. Mpumelelo Mjoka steps back into the saddle and the pair merit respect.

CORNER CRUSADE has finished second in her last three starts over this C&D. It must be noted that the form of her last run has been franked. She is having her peak run and should be hard to peg back.

Race 5

BABY SHOOZ showed some signs of a form return in his last start over this distance on the turf. The manner in which he stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. He has won once and finished second three times from as many starts on this course. The ear muffs seem to have done the trick and he will be mowing down the frontrunners.

RUNAWAY SONG has won his last two starts over this distance well. It must be noted that the form of his last outing has been franked. He takes another step up in class, but is in a good space and can notch up the hat-trick.

CAPTAIN WHO ran a good race when third over 1200m on the turf last time. He steps back up to 1400m and the blinkers have been removed. He carries a handy galloping mass of 54kgs and should run another good race.

Race 6

DAWNOFANEWDAY should have won her last start as she hung and shifted away from the crop in the closing stages. She has finished second in her only attempt over this C&D. The daughter of Futura meets a similar type of field today and if keeping on a straight line, she should be rewarded for consistency.

BELL JAR showed good improvement in her last start over this C&D. It must be noted that Flashy Kaitrina has come out and won again since. The 8yo mare is having her peak run today and should be cherry-ripe.

DEMIGOD’S last start can be ignored as the jockey was dislodged at the start. She has won twice, finished second once and third once from four starts over this C&D. On best form shown, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 7

IMILENZEYOKUDUDUMA is the best bet on the programme. He had to overcome the widest draw at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time, was switched off at the rear of the field and finished his race off well. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Dynasty would have come on from the run and he should love the rise to 1700m. He does have class about him and if suited to the Polytrack, he should take a power of beating.

IMMEASURABLE rallied late when second over 1900m on this course last time. There is hardly any pace in this race and if allowed to dictate his own terms, he may be hard to peg back.

LUCKY DANCER is better than his recent form suggests. He gets the services of a 4kgs claiming apprentice which will help his chances. On best form shown, he may be the one to cause the upset.

Race 8

HIGH GREEN finished 1.3 lengths behind BEND THE RULES last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has won once and finished second twice from six starts over this C&D. He is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.

LORD MINVER finished 1.35 lengths behind BEND THE RULES in the race referred to above. He is also 2.5kgs better off at the weights and should also turn the form around.

BEND THE RULES set the pace last time and fought back well to hold all challengers at bay. He received a three-pound penalty for that victory and against similar company, he can follow up
