Race 1

This is a competitive Merit Rated 67 Handicap and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is ADDIENA from the Garth Puller stable. She has good recent form lines to her credit. Her penultimate run when winning over this C&D catches the eye. If getting away to a clean start, she should return to winning ways under 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Siphesihle Hlengwa.

TRAFALGAR SQUARE has consistent form lines to his credit. He runs well for Muzi Yeni and merits healthy respect.

BECKONING BEAUTY showed good signs of a form return in her last start over this C&D. She was unlucky that day as she was held up for a run and had to switch in the closing stages. She is carded to race on 30 December 2022 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.

Race 2

RAFIKI’S last two starts at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth in work riders races have been decent. He showed good speed over 1000m last time, but was outrun late. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won again since. He has his first run on this course and from his good draw of three, he should be the horse to beat.

SAKA GOLD’S last three starts have been decent. He may not have seen out the 1400m last time and will enjoy the drop to 1100m. It is encouraging that Muzi Yeni keeps faith in the ride and he must be included in all bets.

ROY’S JULY MAGIC showed very good improvement in his last start over 1200m on the turf. He raced from a handy position and despite hanging in the closing stages, he stayed on nicely at the finish. The son of Willow Magic will strip much fitter and he should go close.

Race 3

MISS DORA has shown good improvement in her last two starts. She finished 0.05 lengths behind COUNTY KILDARE last time. She is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She meets the right field this afternoon and can shed her maiden tag. She is carded to race on 30 December 2022 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.

TIME FOR CHARITY showed very good improvement in her last start with the blinkers and tongue-tie fitted. If all went well with her travels, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

COUNTY KILDARE ran a fair race in her last start over 1000m on the turf. Her penultimate run when finishing second over this C&D catches the eye. Athandiwe Mgudlwa retains the ride and the pair merit healthy respect.

Race 4

ASHFORD CASTLE had excuses in the Listed In Full Flight Handicap last time. He returns from a 35-week break, which may have done him the world of good. The son of Var is unbeaten from two starts over this C&D. He races well fresh and with the services of 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Siphesihle Hlengwa, he can notch up his fifth career victory.

GRAPPLER ran a fair race in his last start over 1400m before given a 14-week break. He has won twice and finished third twice from five starts over this distance. He drops in the ratings and if not in need of the run, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

BLACKWHITEDYNAMITE was running on too late when second over 1400m on this course last time. The drop to 1200m is a slight concern, but he should strip fitter and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

Race 5

VALERIAN NIGHT was in need of his debut effort over 1400m on the turf. He jumped outwards when leaving barrier 13 on debut before settling near the rear of the field. He was green in running, but the manner in which he stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The son of Jackson would have come on from the run and will love the rise to 1700m. He tries the Polytrack and from his good draw of four, he should make the natural improvement.

ULTIMATE JEWEL has finished second in his last two starts. He raced from a handy position over 1800m last time, but found one too good in the form of Zakho. Keagan de Melo takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

HIS MASTER’S VOICE showed signs of needing his last start over 1400m on the turf. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. He has plenty of scope and should be right there.

Race 6

GREEN DREAM finished 0.6 lengths behind ROYAL KITTY last time. She is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She has won once, finished second twice and third once from eight starts over this C&D. Tristan Godden retains the ride and she can notch up her third career victory.

ROYAL KITTY showed good guts when winning her last start over this C&D. She set the pace and fought back well in the latter stages. Keagan de Melo returns to the saddle and the combination merit healthy respect. She is carded to race on 30 December 2022 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.

ARCTIC PRINCESS last two starts have been fair. She has won three times, finished second once and third once from nine starts over this C&D. From pole position, she can run into the placings.

Race 7

MVULAZANA has good recent form lines to her credit. She rallied late when third over 1400m on the turf last time. The daughter of Soft Falling Rain takes a drop in class and if seeing out the extra furlong on offer, she may be the one to beat.

LADY MACBETH finished 0.3 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 1kg worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.

MARIA COROLINA won a good race in her last start over this distance on the turf. She took the lead at the 250m mark last time and kept going well. She returns from a well-deserved 10-week break and if not in need of the run, she can follow up.

Race 8

FEELING GROOVY was her own worst enemy over 1800m last time as she overraced in the early stages. She has won once and finished second once from three starts over this distance. She has dropped to a competitive rating and from her good draw of two, she may be hard to peg back.

SHELL SEEKER has finished third in her last two starts on the turf. She raced from a handy position last time and stayed on at the finish. She is in a good space and merits healthy respect.

DIAMONDS N DOLLARS finished 3.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around
