Race 1

SAVIC showed very good improvement in her last start over this C&D. She showed good speed, tried hard but found one too good in the form of Golden Sickle. The daughter of Lancaster Bomber is a progressive type and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, she can go one better.

WINTER CLOUD produced a promising debut effort in the Non-Black Type Hollywoodbets Summer Coronation Plate. She was green in running, but the manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The daughter of What A Winter would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

DISTANT WINTER is an unraced daughter of What A Winter and she is the stable companion of the second choice. She is related to three-time winner Far Away Winter. Gareth Wright is booked to ride and the betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other first timers.

Race 2

NARINA TROGON is better than his last start over 1400m. His penultimate run when finishing fifth over 1200m was encouraging. The manner in which he finished off his race that day caught the eye. The son of Silvano will love the step up to 1600m. Aldo Domeyer takes the ride for the first time and he is capable of winning a race of this nature.

SCALINI set the pace over this C&D last time and kept going well to hold all challengers at bay. He received a two-pound penalty for that victory and merits healthy respect.

KITCHAKAL finished 1.3 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line.

Race 3

TOUT A FAIT was an easy winner of his last start over this C&D. He raced from a handy position, quickened up well and drew clear of the opposition. The blinkers have done the trick on the son of Master Of My Fate. Despite his big mass of 62kgs, he can notch up his fifth career victory.

MAX THE OTTER was running on when second over 1600m on this course. He has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this distance. The son of Vercingetorix takes a rise in class, but he has ability and should be up to the task at hand.

SEEKING THE ONE fought hard for his last victory in the Ready To Run Stakes. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He takes on older rivals, but has the class to be competitive.

Race 4

INTIMIDATOR has good recent form lines to his credit. He stayed on at the finish over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of Charlie Croker. The son of The United States meets the right field this afternoon and he may be rewarded for consistency.

SIR WILLIAM has run three fair races to date. It must be noted that the form of his last outing has been franked. The manner in which he finishes off his races suggests that he will love the step up to 1400m and he is one of the leading contenders.

GIMME GORGEOUS showed some improvement in his last start over 1200m, despite the saddle slipping in running. The son of Gimmethegreenlight tries the 1400m and with just 54kgs on his back, he may have more to come.

Race 5

ILHA DA MAURICIA showed very good improvement when stepping up to the 1600m last time. She raced from a handy position, moved up well but was outrun late by Saartjie. The daughter of Silvano is a progressive type and should have no issues with the rise to 1800m. She jumps from a good draw of four and can go one better.

FALLO ANCORA finished 1.2 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

DESTINED TO DANCE has finished second in her last two starts. She lost two lengths at the start last time, but the manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. She carries a handy galloping mass of 52.5kgs and if jumping on terms, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 6

IMPETUOUS ran a decent race in his last start over this C&D. The manner in which he stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He does have to overcome the widest draw of ten, but gets the services of Richard Fourie who will give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

DONDER STORM ran a decent race in his last start over 1800m on this course. He tries the 2000m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should pose a threat.

QUANTIFIER finished 0.8 lengths behind the second choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

Race 7

WINTER SCOUT took on much stronger company in the Non-Black Type Summer Bowl last time. It must be noted that Make It Snappy has come out and won the Grade 1 WSB Cape Fillies Guineas since. Her penultimate run when finishing second over 1800m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville was encouraging. She drops in class and from her good draw of four, she can notch up her third career victory.

LOVE IS A ROSE was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over 1800m on this course. She tries the 2000m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she should be one of the leading contenders.

LADY SILVANO finished 1.05 lengths behind the second choice last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the wire.

Race 8

CAPTAIN BOMBSHELL won a good race in his last start over this C&D. Despite an awkward start, he quickened up well and drew off in the closing stages. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He meets similar company this afternoon and is the horse to beat.

BEERENBERG finished 2.3 lengths behind the top selection last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

DANCE VARIETY should have finished closer last time as he hung inwards in the closing stages. It must be noted that Love In Winter has come out and won again since. The son of Var is having his first run as a gelding and cannot be ignored.

Race 9

VERONIQUE stayed on nicely when third over this C&D last time. She jumps from a much better draw of five this afternoon. JP van der Merwe knows her well and in similar company, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

DOUBLE DREAM finished 0.2 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line. SEEKING PEACE finished 0.7 lengths behind the top selection in the race referred to above. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result
