Race 1

SNOW PILOT is an unraced son of Lancaster Bomber from the powerful Justin Snaith yard and stable jockey Richard Fourie is booked to ride. His mother, Snowdance won on debut over 1100m and then went on to win two Grade 1 races. If not too green, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.

CAPTAIN ARROW is better than his last start in the Non-Black Type The Trippi Stakes. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. His debut effort when fourth over this C&D catches the eye. He takes on Maiden Company and should find a form return.

ICY BLAST showed good speed over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of The Abdicator. He finished 2.45 lengths behind the second choice in his penultimate run. He gets the blinkers fitted for the first time and the headgear should keep his mind on the task at hand.

Race 2

GO LIKE FLO has produced three good efforts to date, the latest of which was over this C&D. She ran on well last time, fought hard but found one too good in the form of La Pura Vida. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight is a progressive type and in this line-up, she should shed her maiden tag.

ELEODORO produced some good form lines before given a lengthy 48-week break. The drop to 1200m should not pose a concern as she finished fourth over this distance at the second time of asking. If not in need of the run, she should be competitive.

JADE’S CABERNEIGH was in need of her debut effort over 1000m, against male company. She would have come on from the run and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 3

AUGUSTA BLUE did not get a clean start over this C&D last time, but the manner in which he finished off his race that day was encouraging. The son of Gimmethegreenlight is a progressive type and Aldo Domeyer may be able to get the best out of him where it matters most. With a bit of luck in running, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

FALLO ANCORA set the pace over 1800m last time, but was caught late by Destined To Dance. She should have no issues with the drop back to the mile and will give the males a run for their money.

DONDER STORM’S last three starts have been fair. He cast a shoe in running last time. The son of Sudden Storm drops to the mile and in this type of field, he should earn another cheque for his patrons.

Race 4

MARY LAMB has finished third in her last two starts, the latest of which was over this C&D. She should have finished closer to the winner last time as she was carried outwards at the 100m mark. Richard Fourie retains the ride and with a bit of luck in running, she can shed her maiden tag.

RED KITE has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. She has finished second once and third twice from five starts over this C&D. She is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.

HANG OUT THE STARS showed some improvement in her last start over 1400m on this course. She was green in running, but the manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The daughter of Querari will love the rise to the mile and she should have more to come.

Race 5

MISS GREENLIGHT ran a fair race when fourth in the Okapi Ladies International last time. She cast a shoe in running and it must be noted that multiple horses from the form line have come out and won since. She has won twice and finished second once from five starts over this C&D. Luyolo Mxothwa steps back into the saddle and on best form shown, she is capable of returning to winning ways.

FUN ZONE ran a good race when third in the Non-Black Type The Clapham Stakes last time. She has won once and finished second twice from four starts over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

GIMMEAFIRST stayed on when fourth over this C&D last time. She returns from an 11-week break which would have done her the world of good. She carries a handy galloping mass of 54.5kgs and if not in need of the run, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 6

SUN DAZED should have finished closer to the winner over 1200m last time as he was cramped for running room at the 100m mark. His penultimate run when finishing second over this C&D catches the eye. Aldo Domeyer steps back into the saddle and with a bit of luck in running, he can notch up his fourth career victory.

TRIVIAL MATTER has produced two good runs since returning to the Western Cape. He finished 0.3 lengths behind the top choice in his penultimate effort. He is 1.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around.

TCHAIKOVSKY is the stable companion of the top selection. He has won twice and finished third once from as many starts over this C&D. The son of Pomodoro always gives of his best and if fit, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 7

This is a competitive Classified Stakes field and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is BLUFF ON BLUFF from the Piet Steyn yard. He took the lead at the 100m mark last time, but was caught late by Elusive Trader. Two of his three career victories have come over this distance. Aldo Domeyer retains the ride and he should go one better.

WHAT A STATE finished 1.75 lengths behind EVERLASTING last time. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line. Gavin Lerena takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

EVERLASTING showed good speed over this C&D last time, but was outrun late. She has won once and finished third twice from five starts over this C&D. Luyolo Mxothwa is booked to ride and the combination may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line
