Race 1

This is a competitive start to the day and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is MONTIEN from the Piet Botha stable. He produced a promising debut effort over 1200m. The son of Louis The King understandably raced green, but the manner in which he stayed on at the finish was encouraging. He would have come on from the run and should love the extra furlong on offer. With the natural improvement that is expected, he may be the one to beat.

ROYAL PORT LOUIS is better than his last start in a minor feature at Fairview. He has finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. He may be hard to peg back.

ASPECT was his own worst enemy over 1600m last time as he overraced in the early stages. His two starts prior to that effort over this distance were encouraging. He should be cherry-ripe and will be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 2

CHANSONETTE has top consistent form lines to her credit. She ran a good race when finishing second in her comeback run in the Grade 2 Hollywoodbets Diana Stakes last time. She moved up well, but was outrun late by Santa Maria. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. She would have come on from the run and with race fitness on her side, she should be the horse to beat.

MARINA was super-impressive when winning the Grade 2 Gold Bracelet at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time. She returns from a well-deserved 16-week break which would have done her the world of good. She has won twice and finished third once from four starts over this C&D. She has bigger plans for the season, but has the class to be competitive.

SILVER DARLING was not disgraced when finishing third in the Grade 1 Brentford FC Garden Province Stakes last time. She has won twice and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. If not needed, she should run a big race.

Race 3

ALLENDE is lightly raced with some good form lines to her credit. She finished 1.75 lengths behind GIFT FROM HEAVEN in her last start over this distance. She is 10kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She jumps from a good draw of two and should be the one to beat.

GIFT FROM HEAVEN showed very good improvement in her last start over this C&D. Despite a slow start, she set the pace before getting caught late by Defining Moment. She has cracked a good draw of three and with Piere Strydom in the saddle, she may be hard to peg back.

GRANDI ORECCHIE has produced two decent efforts at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She returns from a 17-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. She makes her way to the Cape and with a bit of luck in running, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 4

SELUKWE ran a very good race when second in his last start over 1600m on this course. He raced from a handy position, moved up well but was caught in the shadow of the post by Rockpool. The son of Pomodoro should love the rise to 2000m. He does have a wide draw of thirteen to contend with, but gets the services of Grant van Niekerk who will give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

MOHANDAS finished 1.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

STORM BOULEVARD showed good improvement when finishing 1.45 lengths behind the top choice in the race referred to above. He is also 1kg better off at the weights today. The son of William Longsword is likely to use his early gate speed to get across without using up too much energy.

Race 5

FLEETING was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. She has finished second in both her efforts over this C&D. The daughter of Querari received a four-pound penalty for that victory and against a similar line-up, she can follow up. ACADEMIC GOLD finished 1.7 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. She finished 1.25 lengths behind TIME FLIES in her penultimate run. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.

YOUNG LOVE was in need of her comeback run over 2400m. She finished second in her only attempt over this C&D. She should strip a much fitter horse and with Grant van Niekerk back in the saddle, she merits healthy respect.

Race 6

COUSIN CASEY makes his seasonal debut after given a well-deserved 16-week break. He was super-impressive when winning the Grade 1 Premiers Champion Stakes over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville. This run will bring him on for the Grade 1 Hollywoodbets Cape Guineas, but he has the class to notch up his fifth victory in a row.

LE MORNE is unbeaten from three starts to date. It must be noted that the form of his last outing has been franked. He will be at home over this distance and with a bit of luck in running, he should be one of the leading contenders.

LIGHT SPEED won a good race in his last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won a feature race since. He is likely to race on the speed once again and should be hard to peg back.

Race 7

HITHEMHARDSUNSHINE finished 1.25 lengths behind TROMPIE in his comeback run over 1000m on this course. He is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The son of What A Winter will strip a much fitter horse today and he will love the extra furlong on offer. Keagan de Melo takes the ride and he should notch up his third career victory.

TROMPIE won a good race in the Non-Black Type Need For Speed Sprint. He raced from just off the pace, quickened up well and drew clear of the opposition. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

HAMMIES HERO won a good race in his last start over this C&D against older rivals. He takes another rise in class, but is above average and should be up to the task at hand.

Race 8

LE MANS is much better than his last start in the Grade 3 Cape Classic. He was in need of his comeback run in his penultimate start over 1250m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. The son of Wylie Hall has won once and finished third once from as many starts over this C&D. He is nicely weighted and should be cherry-ripe. Gareth Wright retains the ride and on best form shown, he can return to winning ways. LET IT BURN finished 1 length behind SUN DAZED last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He will strip a much fitter horse today and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

SUN DAZED won a good race in his last start over this C&D. He meets a similar field this afternoon and with Aldo Domeyer back in the saddle, he must be included in all bets
