Race 1

USA’S HOPE followed up his maiden win with a hard-fought victory in the Non-Black Type World Pool The Invitational. The manner in which he quickened up in the closing stages was encouraging. He comes into this race well-weighted and should notch up the hat-trick.

CAPTAIN BOMBSHELL should have finished closer to the winner last time as he hung outwards in the final 300m. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

BARZALONA finished 2 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line. Aldo Domeyer takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

Race 2

GOLD POKER GAME was unlucky not to have won the Listed Tattersalls Jamaica Handicap last time as she had to be switched outwards at a crucial stage in the race. She finished 0.75 lengths behind LOVE IS A ROSE in her penultimate effort over 1800m. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She is drawn in the widest barrier but gets the services of Aldo Domeyer who will give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

SILVERLINKS set her own fractions in the Non-Black Type Clapham Stakes last time and kept finding to hold all challengers at bay. She meets a similar line-up this afternoon and can notch up the hat-trick.

HOLD MY HAND finished 0.4 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

Race 3

CAPTAIN’S RANSOM has been travelling too well in the early stages of her last two starts over further and has not found her usual kick. She was reported to be making an abnormal respiratory noise last time out. The 5yo mare is unbeaten from three starts over this distance. She jumps from pole position and should be too classy for this line-up.

HAPPY CHANCE was not disgraced when fifth in the Grade 1 WSB Cape Fillies Guineas last time. Make It Snappy has come out and won the Grade 1 Cartier Paddock Stakes since. The daughter of Dynasty carries a handy galloping mass of 53.5kgs and if fit, she should be one of the leading contenders.

GIMME’S LASSIE finished 0.5 lengths behind the second choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

Race 4

KYALAMI GIRL produced a promising debut effort over this C&D. She took time to find her feet, but finished her race off strongly before touched off by Siddeley. The daughter of Querari would have gained from the experience and it is encouraging that Aldo Domeyer steps into the saddle. With the natural improvement that is expected, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

GOLDEN SICKLE stayed on when fourth in the Listed City Of Cape Town Summer Juvenile Stakes last time. She won a very good race on debut over 1000m on this course. The daughter of Vercingetorix should enjoy the step up to 1200m and she will be competitive.

THE CHARLESTON is the stable companion of the top choice. She raced from just off the pace over 1000m last time, found another kick and kept finding all the way to the line. She is a progressive type and must be included in all bets.

Race 5

SPEEDING BULLET hung outwards in the latter stages in the Non-Black Type The Trippi Stakes last time. He has been gelded since that outing which may have done him the world of good. The son of What A Winter tries the 1200m and if seeing out the extra furlong on offer, he should be the one to beat.

EXCEPT TEMPTATION was given a peach of a ride when winning on debut over this C&D. He raced from just off the pace, moved up well and lasted long enough. The son of Fire Away would have come on from the run and could be anything.

OUTLAW KING lost a length leaving the start on debut, but produced a strong finish and drew clear of the opposition. The son of Rafeef takes on stronger, but he looks to have ability and should be up to the task at hand.

Race 6

GIMMELIGHTNING ran on strongly when second behind GOLDEN TATJANA last time. He is 3kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The son of Gimmethegreenlight will be at home over the extra furlong on offer. He will be mowing down the frontrunners and should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

RASCOVA ran on strongly when winning the Listed City Of Cape Town Summer Juvenile Stakes under French jockey, Christophe Soumillon. The daughter of Lancaster Bomber clearly has ability and she should pose a massive threat.

GOLDEN TATJANA finished 1.75 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.

Race 7

PACAYA produced an encouraging comeback run over 1400m last time. He was settled near the rear of the field and ran on powerfully. The son of Trippi finished 2.15 lengths behind SILVANO’S DASHER that day. He is 5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He will strip a much fitter horse today and with just 51kgs on his back, he may be the one to cause the upset.

Trainer Justin Snaith holds a strong hand in this contest and NEXUS may be the one to complete the exacta. He ran a good race when fourth in the Grade 1 WSB Cape Town Met last time. The 7yo gelding has to contend with the widest draw, but Piere Strydom knows him well and the combination merit healthy respect.

AL MUTHANA is better than his last start suggests. He was ultra-impressive when winning the Grade 1 L’Ormarins King’s Plate over this distance in his penultimate run. Despite his big mass of 62kgs, he should be competitive.

Race 8

CHARLES DICKENS ran a very good race when second in the Grade 1 L’Ormarins King’s Plate last time. He ran on strongly, but was touched off by Al Muthana in the shadow of the post. The son of Trippi should have no issues with the Hollywoodbets Kenilworth 2000m and from his good draw of two, he should take a power of beating.

ROCKPOOL won a game race in the Grade 3 Politician Stakes last time. The son of Futura will be at home over this distance. He is likely to be switched off near the rear of the field from the widest draw and should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

WITHOUT QUESTION finished 0.5 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

Race 9

GIMME A PRINCE was given a peach of a ride when winning the Grade 1 Pongracz Cape Flying Championship last time. He was equally impressive when winning the Grade 2 Cape Merchants in his penultimate run. The son of Gimmethegreenlight is in a good space and has a good chance of notching up the hat-trick.

RIO QUERARI showed good signs of a form return when second behind the top choice last time. He has won once, finished second twice and third once from six starts over this distance. The 6yo gelding runs his best races under Grant van Niekerk and if jumping on terms, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

TRIP OF FORTUNE is much better than his last start in the Grade 1 L’Ormarins King’s Plate. He has won once, finished second twice and third once from as many starts over this C&D. His best form has been under Aldo Domeyer and the combination cannot be ignored.

Race 10

HAWK CIRCLE ran a good race when second in his last start over this C&D. The manner in which he finished off his race that day was encouraging. The blinkers seem to have done the trick on the son of Silvano and he may be the one to side with.

MIGHTY MAC finished 0.3 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line. Aldo Domeyer takes the ride and he may be able to get the best out of the son of Pathfork.

CAPTAIN CASANOVA showed good improvement in his last start over 1000m on this course. The manner in which he ran on suggests that he will love the step up to 1200m. The gelding has done the trick and he will strip much fitter
