Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: BUTTERFLY BEAUTY (7)
Jockey: E Finney – Trainer: J Snaith

This is a competitive Okapi Ladies International field and caution is advised. Trainer Justin Snaith holds a strong hand in this contest and BUTTERFLY BEAUTY may be the one to side with. She ran a good race when third behind Gimme’s Lassie over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time. She gets the blinkers and tongue-tie fitted this afternoon which may do the trick. She won her only attempt over this C&D and if not in need of the run, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

Race 2: AUSSENKEHR (1)
Jockey: A Ndebele – Trainer: J Snaith

AUSSENKEHR has good consistent form lines to his name. He received a bump leaving the start last time, but stayed on nicely to finish second. He gets the blinkers fitted for the first time which should keep his mind on the task at hand. Capable workrider Andile Ndlebe does duty and he may be rewarded for consistency.

Race 3: GIMMELIGHTNING (6)
Jockey: R Fourie – Trainer: J Snaith

GIMMELIGHTNING won a good race on debut over 900m on this course. He was slow into stride, but ran on strongly to get the better of Icy Blast. He would have gained from the experience and could be anything. Richard Fourie steps into the saddle which suggests that he is the stable elect and he can remain unbeaten.

Race 4: WE’RE JAMMING (9)
Jockey: R Fourie – Trainer: J Snaith

WE’RE JAMMING raced from just off the pace in the Grade 2 Cape Merchants last time, but found one too good in the form of Gimme A Prince. He has finished second in all three attempts over this C&D. He gets the blinkers fitted for the first time which should keep his mind on the task at hand. It is encouraging that Richard Fourie steps back into the saddle and he can notch up his fourth career victory.

Race 5: GOLDEN HOSTESS (9)
Jockey: G Wright – Trainer: C Bass-Robinson

GOLDEN HOSTESS has had to overcome a wide barrier position in her last two starts, the latest of which was the Grade 1 WSB Cape Fillies Guineas. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. She should have no issues with the drop to 1200m as she has won once, finished third once and fourth once as many starts over this distance. She carries a handy galloping mass of 54.5kgs and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

Race 6: UNIVERSAL (3)
Jockey: J P van der Merwe – Trainer: A Marcus

UNIVERSAL ran a very good race when second in the Grade 2 WSB Green Point Stakes last time. He raced from a handy position and stayed on nicely at the business end. His last victory came over this C&D. He is having his peak run and from his good draw of three, he should go one better here.

Race 7: CAPTAIN’S RANSON (3)
Jockey: R Fourie – Trainer: J Snaith

CAPTAIN’S RANSOM was ultra-impressive when winning her season debut over 1400m last time. She would have come on from the run. The champion 5yo mare won this race last year and she should notch up her 14th career victory.

Race 8: CHARLES DICKENS (9)
Jockey: A Domeyer – Trainer: C Bass-Robinson

CHARLES DICKENS was settled near the rear of the field in the Grade 1 Hollywoodbets Cape Guineas. He had to be switched out for a run at the top of the straight, quickened up under the hands and drew clear with ease. He does face his toughest test as he takes on older rivals who have won multiple Grade 1 races. However, he is a special horse who has the class to remain unbeaten under his pilot Aldo Domeyer. With 55kgs on his back, he should take a power of beating.

Race 9: NEVADA KING (10)
Jockey: G van Niekerk – Trainer: J Snaith

NEVADA KING followed up his maiden victory with a good second-place finish over this C&D. He stayed on nicely at the finish, but found one too good in the form of Rockpool. He meets a similar type of field this afternoon and with a bit of luck from barrier 10, he may be the one to beat.

Race 10: SOVEREIGN SOLDIER (5)
Jockey: R Munger – Trainer: W Nel

MASTER REDOUTE finished 0.5 lengths behind NAVY STRENGTH last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today. He finished 1.85 lengths behind HAN SOLO in the Listed Tab4Racing Algoa Cup in his penultimate run. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He is having his peak run today and from his handy draw of five, he is capable of notching up his third career victory
