Race 1

11 of the 12 runners in this contest are unraced and the betting market will be the best guide with regards to their chances. DUMBLEDORE is an unraced son of William Longsword from the Vaughan Marshall yard with Corne Orffer in the saddle. He is related to multiple winners including The Secret Is Ours and Naval Secret. If not too green, he should start his career on a positive note.

NOON DAY GUN hails from the Justin Snaith stable and he is a son of Gimmethegreenlight. Richard Fourie does duty and if not in need of the run, he should get his career off to a positive start.

PRESSONREGARDLESS is a son of Lancaster Bomber from the Brett Crawford stable and Luyolo Mxothwa is in the saddle. He is related to two-time winner Peace In Our World. If not too green, he should give a good account of himself.

Race 2

CAPTIVATE produced a promising debut effort over 900m on this course. She was green in running, but the manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight would have gained from the experience and should love the step up to 1000m. With the natural improvement that is expected, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

GOLDEN SICKLE is an unraced daughter of Vercingetorix from the Justin Snaith stable with Richard Fourie in the saddle. She is related to Atkinson Grimshaw and Master Of Illusion. If not in need of the run, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other unraced horses.

WINDWARD PASSAGE is a daughter of William Longsword from the Vaughan Marshall yard and Corne Orffer does duty. She is related to multiple winners including Triple Fate Line and Travelling Light. If not too green, she should give a good account of herself.

Race 3

ROCK ON TOMMY showed good improvement in his last start over this C&D with the blinkers fitted. He was squeezed leaving the starting stalls, but showed pace before getting outrun in the latter stages. The son of What A Winter is a progressive type and if getting away to a clean start, he should be hard to peg back.

TRIPPI T has run three fair races to date. He did not settle in the early stages of his last start over 1200m and understandably lacked extra in the closing stages. The son of Trippi will enjoy the drop to 1000m and he has plenty of scope. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

ELECTRIC FEELS’ last start can be ignored as she was reported to be cut into and not striding out. She finished second in her previous two efforts over this distance. Richard Fourie takes the ride and she should give the males a run for their money.

Race 4

STRAWBERRY LIGHT raced from just off the pace over 1200m last time, tried hard but found one too good in the form of Ella’s Delight. The blinkers seem to have done the trick on her. She steps back up to the 1400m and in this type of field, she should go one better.

BUSY LIZZIE finished 2.45 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she will love the rise to 1400m and is one of the leading contenders.

TUSCANY had to overcome the widest draw in her last start over this C&D. She ran a good race when second over this distance at Hollywoodbets Durbanville in her penultimate run, under Keagan de Melo. From her good draw of three, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 5

ELEGANT NOBLE showed very good improvement when finishing second over 1600m on this course. He raced from a handy position, moved up well but was caught in the latter stages. The son of Time Thief tries the 1800m for the first time and with a bit of luck from his wide draw of 13, he may be the one to beat.

READY OR NOT was running on strongly when second in his last start over 2000m on this course. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Rafeef gets the blinkers fitted for the first time which should keep his mind on the task at hand.

JACK RYAN finished 1.5 lengths behind the top selection last time. He set the pace, but was outrun late. If confirming his recent improvement, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 6

STEINBECK ran a good race when second in his last start over 1600m on this course. He was slow into stride, but the manner in which he finished off his race was encouraging. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He won his only attempt over this distance. The son of Silvano will strip a much fitter horse today and if jumping on terms, he can win.

THE FUTURIST has finished second in his last two starts. He set the pace over 1950m last time, but found one too good in the form of Navy Strength who has come out and won again since. He is likely to adopt the same tactics and may be hard to peg back.

PAS DE NOM is better than his last start in the Grade 2 Cape Punters Cup. He won his three starts prior to that outing well. He takes a drop in class and with Keagan de Melo back in the saddle, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 7

FAIRE ADVANTAGE ran a good race when fourth in his last start over 1600m. He raced from a handy position and tried hard all the way to the line. The son of Trippi has won twice from four starts over this C&D. He meets a similar field this afternoon and may be the one to side with.

NAPOLEON finished 0.9 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line. He is likely to be switched off near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

GIMME MORE TIME followed up his maiden victory with a fair effort over 1600m on this course. He should have finished closer to the winner that day as he was held up for a run at the 100m mark. He has plenty of scope and with a bit of luck in running, he should run into the placings.

Race 8

LET IT BURN ran a good race when third in his last start over this C&D, against stronger company. He should have finished closer in his penultimate effort in this class as he had no luck in the closing stages. Keagan de Melo steps back into the saddle and if not too far out of his ground at the halfway mark, he should return to winning ways.

BENJAMIN showed good improvement in his last start over this C&D. He lost a length at the start, ran on well but found one too good in the form of King Regent. If confirming his recent improvement, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

VOLDEMORT has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. It must be noted that the form of his last start has been franked. He has won once and finished third once from four starts over this C&D. The son of William Longsword must be included in all bets
