Race 1

This is a weak Maiden Plate and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is RUBERTUS from the Candice Bass-Robinson yard. He has shown improvement in his last two starts with the blinkers fitted. The son of Canford Cliffs is having his peak run and has cracked a good draw of two. He may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

ASPECT is better than his last start as he was reported to be not striding out. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He is suited to this C&D and is one of the leading contenders.

SHOTGUN WILLIE should have finished closer last time as he had to be checked at the 300m mark. The son of William Longsword tries the blinkers which should keep his mind on the task at hand. His best career effort has come over this distance and he can feature.

Race 2

FLYING V has shown improvement in each of her outings to date. She raced from a prominent position last time, but found one too good in the form of Baltic Secret. The daughter of Vercingetorix will love the extra furlong on offer and she may be the one to beat.

NILE THE BOSS has produced three fair efforts to date. It is encouraging that Keagan de Melo retains the ride and should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

LADY MAJORCA produced a decent debut effort over this C&D. She was green in running, but the manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The daughter of William Longsword would have come on from the run and she should make the natural improvement.

Race 3

SPEED RACER ran a fair race in his last start over this C&D. Despite losing a length leaving the start, he showed pace before staying on to finish third. The son of Querari is progressive and in this line-up, he can shed his maiden tag.

UNDERWORLD finished 0.4 lengths behind the top choice on debut. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

RIGHT ROYAL MO is an unraced son of Royal Mo from the Candice Bass-Robinson yard with Aldo Domeyer in the saddle. If not too green, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other unraced entrants.

Race 4

HEAR MY VOICE finished 0.3 lengths behind SYMPHONY OF LIGHT last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She has won once, finished second twice and third once from seven starts over this C&D. Craig Zackey retains the ride and the pair may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.

LITTLE MISS PINK finished 1.05 lengths behind SYMPHONY OF LIGHT in the race referred to above. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line.

WHERE’S THE PARTY stayed on well when 1.45 lengths behind SYMPHONY OF LIGHT last time. She is also 1.5kgs better off at the weights today. Richard Fourie takes the ride and he may be able to get the best out of her where it matters most.

Race 5

BYE BYE BOMBSHELL has fair recent form lines to her credit. The daughter of Duke Of Marmalade is having her peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. She will enjoy the step up in distance and from pole position, may be the one to side with.

FLEETING raced from a handy position, fought hard but found one too good in the form of Miss Greenlight last time. The daughter of Querari is having her peak run and she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

TYPEFACE finished 1.25 lengths behind ROYAL INVITATION last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line.

Race 6

METAR found betting support in her fair last start. She had excuses in that outing and it is not a true reflection of her ability. She has dropped to a competitive rating and with a bit of luck from her awkward draw of nine, she is capable of returning to winning ways.

PEUT ETRE MOI finished 2 lengths behind SUMMER NIGHT CITY last time. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and should turn the form around. She is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.

ESTIMATED finished 2.25 lengths behind the second choice last time. She is 1kg worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result. The daughter of William Longsword will be doing her best work at the finish.

Race 7

BUSY LIZZIE finished 0.5 lengths behind GIMMEAFIRST last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She won her only attempt over this C&D when shedding her maiden tag. She carries another handy galloping mass and if jumping on terms, she can go one better.

FUN ZONE ran on from far back when 0.7 lengths behind GIMMEAFIRST in the race referred to above. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

GIMMEAFIRST was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over 1400m on this course. She finished third in her penultimate run over this distance. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight is in a good space and merits healthy respect.

Race 8

TOUT A FAIT was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over this C&D. He set the pace, found another kick and won with a ton in hand. He has won five times, finished second once and third twice from eleven starts over this C&D. He is likely to have his own way in front from draw three and may be hard to peg back.

GRINKOV finished 1.75 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

ROYAL AUSSIE finished 4.75 lengths behind the top selection in the race referred to above. He is 3kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter.

Race 9

SOLAR POWER ran on from far back when second over 1600m on this course last time. He has won three times and finished second twice from six starts over this C&D. The son of Dynasty meets a similar type of field today and if not too far out of his ground turning for home, he can go one better.

BEERENBERG raced from just off the pace last time, but found one too good in the form of Wecangoallnight. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

VELDSKOEN finished 0.5 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line
