Race 1

FORTUNE BAY has finished second in all five of her outings to date. She cost herself leaving the start last time as she gave away two lengths. The daughter of William Longsword meets the right field today and if jumping on terms, she may be rewarded for consistency.

MISS DORA was running on when third over 1200m last time. She was unlucky that day as her pilot dropped his reins in the closing stages. The daughter of Pomodoro is a progressive type and should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

LADIES DAY was in need of her comeback run over this distance on the turf last time. She has finished second three times and third twice from seven starts over this C&D. She will strip a much fitter horse today and can find a form return.

Race 2

JOSHUA HOTSNAKE was running on when third over 1400m on this course last time. He has won twice and finished second twice from nine starts over this distance. He takes a slight drop in class and can return to winning ways.

BLESS ME FRED ran a good race when second over this C&D last time. Despite racing wide around the turn, he moved up well before getting outrun late by Gimme A Rainbow. With a bit of luck in running, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

HALLERBOS finished 1.55 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

Race 3

PREEMPTIVE STRIKE should have finished much closer to the winner last time as he had no luck in the straight. His last victory came over this C&D in a MR 65 Handicap. Rachel Venniker retains the ride and with a bit of luck, he can notch up his third career victory.

PURPLE OPERATOR is better than his last start suggests as the jockey reported something to be amiss. His penultimate run over this C&D was encouraging. He drops back in class and is one of the leading contenders.

GIMME A RAINBOW was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over this C&D. He has won four times, finished second twice and third once from ten starts over this C&D. 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Malesela Katjedi retains the ride and the pair merit healthy respect.

Race 4

RETAIL THERAPY finished 0.7 lengths behind TOTO last time. She is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She is having her peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. With a bit of luck from her awkward draw of seven, she can notch up her sixth career victory.

TOTO has good recent form lines to her credit. She finished 1.2 lengths behind AISLING in her penultimate effort. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.

AISLING won a good race in her last start over 1200m on this course. Despite getting off to a slow start, she showed good pace and kept going well to hold all challengers at bay. The daughter of Visionaire is in a good space and she can follow up.

Race 5

LET’S NOT LINGER has decent recent form lines to her credit. She was not disgraced when fourth against slightly stronger over 1400m on this course last time. It must be noted that Monashada has come out and won again since. The 5yo mare won her only attempt over this C&D. Sean Veale retains the ride and from her good draw of three, she should be the horse to beat.

CAPETOWN BEAUTY stayed on when second over 1900m on the turf last time. She finished 0.8 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.

AQUAE SULIS finished 0.6 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

Race 6

This is a competitive Merit Rated 71 Handicap and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is FEVER from the Dennis Bosch stable. He has shown signs of a form return in his last two starts. He stayed on at the finish over 2000m last time, but found one too good in the form of Pirate Prince. He carries a handy galloping mass of 54.5kgs and may be the one to side with.

COROMANDEL finished 0.9 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

RODRIGUEZ was unlucky not to have won his last start over 1600m on this course as he hung in the straight and had to be switched at a crucial stage. He has cracked pole position and must be included in all bets.

Race 7

RALPH THE RASCAL was settled near the rear of the field over this C&D last time and finished his race off strongly. All four of his victories have come over this distance. He always gives of his best and may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

MR PIGALLE’S last three starts have been decent. He has won twice, finished second once and third once from seven starts over this C&D. The son of Jay Peg will be mowing down the frontrunners.

OH SO SQUISHY set the pace over 1600m last time, but found one too good in the form of Top Me Up Holly. She was reported to be coughing that day. The daughter of Pomodoro is likely to race on the speed and she may be hard to peg back.

Race 8

ROYAL KITTY showed good guts and determination when winning her last start over this C&D. She set the pace that day and fought back well. She received a three-pound penalty for that victory. The 6yo mare takes a slight drop in class and can notch up her fifth career victory.

MISS LIALAH was running on when fourth over 1800m last time. She has won twice and finished second once from six starts over this C&D. If not too far out of her ground turning for home, she should pose a massive threat.

EDVIGE followed up her maiden win with an equally impressive victory over this distance on the turf. She has finished second three times from as many starts over this C&D. She is likely to be switched off near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners
