Race 1
CAPTAIN‘S CHRISTY was a surprise winner on debut over 1000m on this course. She jumped outwards leaving the start, but finished her race off strongly and won going away. The daughter of Captain Of All would have gained from the experience and she could be anything. Rachel Venniker takes the 1.5kgs off her back which will help her cause.
SHE CAN finished 1.35 lengths behind AFRICAN FOLKLORE last time. She is 3kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. Serino Moodley who won on AFRICAN FOLKLORE last time has opted to ride this daughter of Var.
GIVERS GRACE is better than her last start in the Listed Ruffian Stakes. She won a good race in her penultimate effort over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Greyville. Keagan de Melo does duty and the combination cannot be ignored.
Race 2
LAW OF SUCCESS made the expected natural improvement when fourth over 1160m at Turffontein last time. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. The daughter of Wylie Hall is a progressive type and if all went well with her travels, she may have more to come.
ISN‘T SHE BONNY was her own worst enemy last time as she hung and shifted away from the crop in the closing stages. She was demoted from second place to fourth place that day. The daughter of Querari has finished second once and third once from as many starts on this course. She will strip much fitter and is one of the leading contenders.
SEA OF TEARS has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. She has finished second twice and third once from five starts over this distance. She is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.
Race 3
EL REY VIENE raced keenly in the early stages of his last start and did not go on with the effort. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. The blinkers will be removed for this outing. It is encouraging that Keagan de Melo steps back into the saddle and from his good draw of three, he is capable of notching up his third career victory.
CAESURA stayed on when third over 1700m on the polytrack last time. He is in a good space and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
WARRIOR BLING showed some signs of needing his comeback run over 2000m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth last time. He would have come on from the run and will strip much fitter. In this type of field, he may have a say in the outcome.
Race 4
JOLLIFICATION finished 1.05 lengths behind MANIC MONDAY last time. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The daughter of Jackson will be at home over the extra distance on offer and if suited to this course, she can shed her maiden tag.
MANIC MONDAY should have finished closer to the winner last time as she hung in the closing stages. She is having her peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. Keagan de Melo does duty and she is one of the leading contenders.
MYTHICAL TUNE has some decent recent form lines to her credit. She has placed over this C&D in the past. Sean Veale does duty this afternoon and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.
Race 5
RED ROSES TOO is the best bet on the programme. She produced an encouraging comeback run over 1000m on this course, eight weeks ago. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging and the horse that finished second has come out and won since. The daughter of Captain Of All will strip a much fitter horse today and she can return to winning ways.
LADY LEGEND is better than her last start in the Non-Black Type Fever Tree Stakes. She won a good race in her penultimate start over 1500m. This distance may be on the sharp side but in this field, she should pose a threat
LET‘S NOT LINGER finished 1.3 lengths behind the second choice last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result
Race 6
WYLIE RILEY was an easy winner of his last start over this C&D. He showed good speed, found another kick and won with a ton in hand. The son of Wylie Hall takes on stronger, but he may be ahead of the handicapper and can follow up.
THE GLIDING FISH returns from a 30-week break and is having his first run for Mark Dixon. He showed good promise in his first three starts. It is encouraging that Keagan de Melo takes the ride and if not in need of the run, he should go close to winning
COMING IN HOT is better than his last two starts. He has won twice and finished second once from eight starts over this distance. The son of Oratorio finished second in his only attempt on this course. He may find a form return in this line-up.
Race 7
BEYONDTHEBOUNDARY produced three good runs in the Western Cape. He won his first attempt in the Cape over this distance with Sean Veale in the saddle. The son of Gimmethegreenlight takes a drop in class and if suited to this course, he can notch up his third career victory.
MASTERBLING won a game race on debut over 1000m. He showed good pace, found a good kick and won going away. The son of Master Of My Fate takes on stronger, but he could be anything and may be up to the task at hand.
LORD VARYS raced from a handy position over 1600m on the Turffontein Inside course last time and stayed on at the finish. Rachel Venniker takes the 1.5kgs off his back and if all went well with his travels, he should run into the money.
Race 8
SEA GODDESS was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over 1750m on this course. The daughter of Ideal World won her maiden over 2000m at Hollywoodbets Greyville. She will be suited to this C&D and from pole position, can notch up her third career victory.
LEOPARD LADY moved up like a winner in her last start over 1750m, but was outrun by the top choice. She has cracked a good draw of two and will be involved in the fight to the finish.
TINDER DRY stayed on at the finish over 1600m last time, but found one too good in the form of Kwazzi’s Lady. Marco van Rensburg steps back into the saddle and she merits obvious inclusion
