Race 1

Eleven of the fifteen runners in this contest are unraced and the betting market will be the best guide with regards to their chances. CATCH THAT MELODY may be the first raced runner past the winning post. She ran a decent race when finishing third over 1000m on this course, five weeks ago. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she will be at home over 1200m. Anton Marcus takes the ride and the pair may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.

BROADWAY GIRL is an unraced daughter of Master Of My Fate from the Dennis Drier yard with Sean Veale in the saddle. She is related to three-time winner Masters Beauty. If not too green, she should give a good account of herself.

CLASSICAL CHORD is a daughter of William Longsword from the Mike Miller stable with Serino Moodley up. She is related to two-time winner Valderrama. If not in need of the run, she should get her career off to a positive start.

Race 2

COUSIN CASEY was not disgraced when finishing fourth in the Listed Summer Juvenile Stakes last time. He returns from a 13-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. The manner in which he finishes off his races suggests that he will be at home over 1400m. He looks to have ability and if not in need of the run, he should be too good for this field.

SUPERIOR FORCE ran on strongly when winning his last start over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Greyville. The son of Pathfork is the only winner in this contest and he should have no issues with the 1400m. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

LET’S GET TOGETHER has run two decent races to date. The son of Gold Standard will love the rise to 1400m and from pole position, he is capable of fighting out the finish.

Race 3

SHAMPOMPO SHAMPIZI ran a good race when finishing second in the Listed Kings Cup last time, despite it being a slow run race. His penultimate effort when winning the Non-Black Type Fever Tree Stakes was impressive. The son of Var should have no issues with the drop back to 1400m and he will be mowing down the frontrunners.

SHAVOUT produced a decent comeback run over this distance on the Polytrack. He set the pace, but found one too good in the form of Ideal Act who has come out and won again since. He will strip a much fitter horse this afternoon and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, he should go close to winning.

PARTY TIME was a tad disappointing in the Grade 3 Byerley Turk last time. His penultimate run when finishing second over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville was encouraging. If repeating that effort in this type of field, he should run a big race.

Race 4

ISIVUNGUVUNGU produced an eye-catching return to racing when finishing second over 1000m on the Polytrack. He moved up like a winner that day, but was outrun late by Good Traveller. The son of What A Winter would have come on with the run under his belt and should strip much fitter. He carries a handy galloping mass of 52.5kgs and can go one better.

SAFE RETURN is much better than his last start in the Grade 3 Byerley Turk as he overraced in the early stages. He won his penultimate effort over this distance at Kenilworth. On best form shown, he should be the one to throw out the biggest challenge to the top choice.

INTREPID finished 1.5 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line.

Race 5

BAUBLES AND BEADS was ultra-impressive when winning on debut over 1200m on the Polytrack. The manner in which she quickened up and drew clear of the opposition was eye-catching. The daughter of Rafeef looks to have ability and she can remain unbeaten.

PRINCESS OZMA finished 0.7 lengths behind RED ROSES TOO last time. She is 3kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She will enjoy the drop to 1100m and is one of the leading contenders.

RED ROSES TOO showed good speed when winning her last start over 1200m on this course. The daughter of Captain Of All meets a similar type of field and with Keagan de Melo retaining the ride, she can follow up.

Race 6

PROPHET found plenty of betting support when winning on debut over 1000m at the Vaal. He jumped outwards leaving the starting stalls and the manner in which he quickened up was impressive. The well-related son of Querari would have come on with the run and if all went well with his travels, he should take a power of beating.

GLADATORIAN fought hard to win his maiden over 1200m on this course. He was reported to have cast a shoe in running that day which makes the victory that much more encouraging. He shows good pace in his races and will be right there at the finish.

COUNTDOWN produced a strong finish when winning on debut over this distance at Kenilworth. He returns from a 12-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. He could be anything and must be included in all bets.

Race 7

GIMME DAT ran on strongly in the Grade 2 Sceptre Stakes and she was promoted to first. She returns from a well-deserved 16-week break which may have done her the world of good. She is unbeaten from two starts over this distance and if not in need of the run, she can keep that record intact.

FULL VELOCITY was given a peach of a ride when winning the Listed Kwa-Zulu Natal Stakes last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She has won twice and finished second twice from as many starts over this distance. The daughter of Philanthropist merits healthy respect.

FAVORITA finished 1.5 lengths behind the second choice last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line.

Race 8

DRAMA QUEEN has fair recent form lines against stronger company. She raced from a handy position over this distance on the polytrack last time and stayed on to finish fourth. The 5yo mare takes a drop in class this afternoon and can return to winning ways.

LADY YUSRA was an easy winner of her last start over 1600m on the Polytrack. She has won once and finished second twice from five starts over this distance. If not too far out of her ground turning for home, she should pose a massive threat to the top choice.

SEA EAGLE was cramped for galloping room when leaving the start last time, but ran on powerfully to notch up the victory. With a bit of luck in running, she is capable of following up.
