Race 1

Only one runner in the field has had a run, so as is always the case in these type of races, a keen eye should be paid to the betting market to get some indication as to which connections feel that they can win at the the first time of asking. Any betting support of a runner should be respected. RAILROAD is the one with experience. He has had the two outings, finishing fourth last time out over five furlongs, 5.2 lengths behind the winner. He stayed on that day and 1.5kgs claiming Rachel Venniker takes the ride again today.

UBISIKA is a What A Winter gelding from the Mike Miller yard with stable jockey Serino Moodley up.

NAVAJO DANCER is a Captain Of All colt from the Gavin van Zyl yard with in-form Keagan De Melo in the saddle.

Race 2

COTTON RON has finished second in his last two starts, the latest over six furlongs, beaten just a short-head back from the victor. The gelding battled all the way down to the wire that day and will have 1.5kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice to aid his cause.

TIGER IN RED was hampered at the 150m and lost a shoe in running when ending up in third place last time out over 1100m on the poly. He faces a wide gate twelve, but the trainer/jockey combination are red-hot at the moment.

VICTOR RAIL lost two and a half lengths when finishing fourth on debut over six furlongs, just under five lengths back from the victor. He would have learnt from that experience and with the natural improvement that can be expected, he should be right up there when they hit the line.

Race 3

KITTYBOYS GIRL has consistent formlines to her name, with her last four runs yielding two seconds and two thirds, the latest third over seven furlongs, just over a length and a half off the winner. She returns from an eleven-week rest and if not too much in need of the run, she could be the one that they all have to beat.

APPROACHABLE LASS has only had the two runs to date, finishing close-up to the winner on both occasions, the latest a third-place finish over six furlongs, 2.1 lengths behind the victor. She is drawn the widest of them all in gate thirteen, but she should be doing her best work late.

SEA OF TEARS tried to go from jump to wire when ending up in fourth-place last time out over seven furlongs, 1.15 lengths adrift of the winner. She retains the services of Muzi Yeni and could prove hard to reel in over the closing stages.

Race 4

FAMILY FAVOURITE made good late progress when finishing second last time out over seven furlongs, 1.7 lengths off the winner. Muzi Yeni knows her well having partnered her on the last three runs and from her useful gate three, she should be a big runner here.

PRINCESS JO won from the front in her penultimate outing over seven furlongs and then finished fourth last time out over the same trip, 3.15 lengths back from the winner next time out. She faces a wide draw nine, so she is likely to adopt the same tactics today.

MEREDITH GREY did not quite go on with her effort when ending up in tenth spot last time out over seven furlongs, 4.85 lengths back from the victor. On her better form, she would be a big runner here.

Race 5

PARIS PIKE has won two of his last three runs and finished second in the other, the latest victory over nine furlongs by 1.8 lengths. The gelding won going away last time and he will be looking to chalk up his third career win.

LILLYBELLE finished well to end up in second spot last time out over 1700m, just a neck behind the winner. She has her peak run and Rachel Venniker retains the ride.

EL REY VIENE followed up his penultimate run victory over nine furlongs with a third-place finish next time out over the same C&D, just under a length and a half behind the winner. He raced just behind the leaders that day and on that last effort, he should appreciate the drop in trip.

Race 6

PHILISPIEL is two for two over this C&D and showed plenty of gate speed when winning his last outing by 1.8 lengths. He retains the services of 1.5kgs claiming Rachel Venniker and the gelding could follow up with a quick double.

GET CARTER drops in trip after finishing second in his last start over six furlongs, 0.7 lengths behind the winner. He showed plenty of speed that day, but hung out and shifted around over the latter stages. He is yet to win over this sprint distance in three attempts, but he will be looking to change that today.

ONE TOO MANY is seldom too far off the action, but was a tad disappointing when fourth last time out over five furlongs, after lacking extra over the latter stages, but if reproducing some of his better form today, he should not be ignored.

Race 7

NORTHERN WARRIOR stayed on well despite hanging over the closing stages to finish third last time out over six furlongs, 1.15 lengths behind QUEST FOR THE BEST, but as he meets the latter on 1.5kgs better terms at today’s weights, he should be able to reverse that result. The latter is better drawn, so all in all, there should not be much separating the pair when they reach the winning post.

CAPTAIN ROCKET put 3.4 lengths between himself and the opposition when winning his latest outing over six furlongs at the third time of asking. He takes on stronger here, but he may well be up to the task at hand, with stable jockey Sean Veale retaining the ride.

Race 8

ASPOESTERTJIE won her penultimate start over five furlongs and then made good late progress to end up in fourth-place last time out over five furlongs, 2.25 lengths behind the victor. She should not be bothered by the extra ground on offer today.

THERE SHE GOES won her penultimate start over 1160m up on the Highveld and then finished second last time out at the same venue, two lengths back from the winner. She represents a hot trainer/jockey combination and should be considered a huge runner in this line-up.

GRUE OF ICE had excuses when finishing fourth last time out over five furlongs, having cast a shoe in running. She has finished second and third in two runs over the C&D and should turn in another honest effort here
