Race 1
AYUWI YUWI caught the eye when finishing off her race strongly over 1000m on this course last time. The daughter of Captain Of All is a progressive type and will love the rise to 1200m. If jumping on terms, she should go one better.
SAUDI SWEEP produced a promising debut effort when fourth over 1000m on the Turffontein Inside course. She lost a length at the start, raced green but stayed on at the business end. She would have gained from the experience and should make the natural progression.
FRENCH DUCHESS ran a good race when third over this C&D last time. If this run has not come too soon, she should be involved at the finish.
Race 2
VIHAAN’S WEB is the best bet on the programme. He ran a decent race on debut over 800m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. He returns from a 34-week rest, during which time he would have strengthened up. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and if fit, he should be the one to beat. LUHAMBA PHAMBILI is an unraced son of Danon Platina from the Gareth van Zyl stable with Serino Moodley in the saddle. He is related to three-time winner Simple Simple. If not too green in running, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other first timers.
ISIKWISHIKWISHI is a son of Alado from the Alyson Wright yard with Athandiwe Mgudlwa up. He is related to four-time winner Bronco Blitz. If not in need of this outing, he should give a good account of himself.
Race 3
CAPTAIN MARSALA has good recent form lines to his credit. He finished third in his last start over this C&D. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He is drawn widest of all, but Richard Fourie is likely to use his early gate speed to get across without using up too much energy and he may be hard to peg back.
LANDSEER finished 0.6 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
MILAN’S WORLD has run two fair races to date. The son of One World should love the rise to 1600m and he cannot be ignored. H
Race 4
FRENCH TRIP is having his first run for the Duncan Howells stable. He brings consistent recent Western Cape form lines with him. He finished third in his last start over this distance. If settled into his new surroundings, he can shed his maiden tag.
BELLA’S PABLO stayed on when second over 1700m on the Polytrack last time. The son of William Longsword should have no issues with the rise to 1950m. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
FUTURE FLO has consistent form lines to his name. The manner in which he finished off his penultimate run suggests that he will love the rise to 1950m. If jumping on terms, he should earn another cheque for his patrons.
Race 5
WILLOW’S WISH was an easy winner of his last start over 1900m on the Polytrack. He has won once and finished second twice from as many starts on this course. He is drawn widest of all but gets the services of Richard Fourie who will give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
PIRATE PRINCE finished 3.95 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 3kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
TROIS TROIS QUATRE won a good race in his last start over 1800m at Turffontein. He won his only attempt over this C&D. He does take a rise in class, but gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Brevan Plaatjies which will assist his cause. B
Race 6
QUERARI’S DREAM produced a typical second run after a rest last time and he over raced in the early stages. The son of Querari is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. He will be ideally suited to 1750m and on his previous form, he may be the one to cause the upset.
LUCKY DOLLAR has good consistent form lines to his name. He raced from a handy position over 1600m on the Polytrack last time, but found one too good in the form of Giambattista. With a bit of luck in running, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.
TEICHMAN finished 1.7 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
Race 7
SHANTA’S PRIDE is better than her last start over this C&D as she was reported to have choked up. She finished 1.05 lengths behind PATANTS HEIR in her penultimate run. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today which is enough for the tables to be turned. It is encouraging that Richard Fourie steps back into the saddle and she may be the one to side with.
PATANTS HEIR won a good race in her comeback run over this distance on the Polytrack. She would have come on from the run and it would be no surprise to see her follow up with another victory.
SASHAY AWAY took on stronger in the Grade 2 East Coast Radio Tibouchina Stakes last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She takes a drop in class and can feature on best form.
Race 8
MOYA WA LALIGA’S last two runs in KZN have been good. He ran on well when second over this distance on the polytrack last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He has won twice from three starts over this C&D. Richard Fourie steps back into the saddle and he may be able to get the best out of him.
MAR DEL PLATA has run three good races since winning his maiden. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in his last outing has come out and won since. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
INTREPID finished 1.15 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result
