Race 1

This is a weak Maiden Plate for the girls and the betting market will be the best guide with regards to the first timers. PREDATRICE is an unraced daughter of New Predator from the Sean Tarry stable with Gavin Lerena in the saddle. She is related to two-time winner Remember When. If not too green in running, she should start her career on a positive note.

FLIGHT OF A CONDOR is a daughter of Var from the Dianne Stenger stable with apprentice Trent Mayhew taking the 2.5kgs off her back. She is related to four-time winner El’ Zara. If not in need of this outing, she should give a good account of herself.

MONTANA LIGHTS returns from a lengthy 25-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. She took place in the Grade 3 TAB Pretty Polly Stakes last time. The daughter of Master Of My Fate has scope and can improve in this field.

Race 2

RONDEBOSCH tried hard when second over 1200m on this course last time. He returns from a 21-week break, during which time he was gelded. Gavin Lerena rides on his return and if not in need of this outing, he should be the one to beat.

KWAGGA BLITZ showed speed over this distance on the Vaal Classic course last time, but was outrun late by Pacific. The blinkers have done the trick on the son of Captain Of All. Piere Strydom retains the ride and he is one of the leading contenders.

LETS PLAY POKER was running on when second over 1200m on this course last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He should have no issues with the drop to 1000m and must be considered.

Race 3

ABBERWOCKY showed good improvement in his last start over this C&D. He set the pace before getting caught late by The Octagon. The son of New Predator would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. If confirming his recent improvement, he can go one better.

DANCE KING stayed on when third over 1450m last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He will love the rise to the mile and should be at peak fitness.

CLEAR THE PATH ran a fair race over 2000m at the Vaal last time. He returns from a 13-week break and drops to 1600m. Kabelo Matsunyane is booked to ride and if not in need of the run, he can earn a cheque in this field.

Race 4

LUNAR RAINBOW showed massive improvement when third over 1800m at the Vaal last time. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish that day suggests that she will love the rise to 2000m. The daughter of Rabada is a progressive type and in this field, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

QUELLO CHE set the pace over 1600m on the Inside course last time but found one too good in the form of Stormy Sunday. She jumps from a good draw of four and may be hard to peg back.

FETCHING FLYER finished 4.3 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 1.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.

Race 5

GOOD COUNCIL had to come from a long way back when fifth over 1800m on the Vaal Classic course last time. The son of Oratorio finished fourth over this C&D in his penultimate start. Apprentice Trent Mayhew takes the 2.5kgs off his back. If not too far out of his ground, he should return to winning ways.

TWENTY DRACHMA‘S found one too good in the form of Poets Warrior. He has finished second twice and third once from as many starts over this C&D. He carries a handy galloping mass of 54kgs and is one of the leading contenders.

BATTLEGROUND was in need of his comeback run over 2000m on the Vaal Classic course. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He will strip much fitter and on best form shown, he should go close to winning.

Race 6

COPPER MIST took on stronger in his last start over 1600m on this course. The son of Master Of My Fate won his only attempt over this C&D. He takes a drop in class and on best form shown, he can return to winning ways.

PRESSONREGARDLESS stayed on when second over 1400m at the Vaal last time. Kabelo Matsunyane retains the ride and if getting his own way in front, he may be hard to peg back.

THERES A LIGHT was running on when second over 1200m on this course last time. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. Apprentice Trent Mayhew retains the ride and he will strip a much fitter horse.

Race 7

WE ARE THE LOGANS quickened up well when winning his last start over 1400m at the Vaal. He received a five-pound penalty for that victory. Gavin Lerena retains the ride and with just 55kgs on his back, he can follow up with another victory.

WILLOW EXPRESS is a winner of his last two starts. He received a six-pound penalty for his last victory. He takes on stronger, but carries a handy galloping mass of 53.5kgs and can bring up the hat-trick.

THE FUTURIST ran a poor race in the Grade 3 SplashOut 2200 last time. He won his penultimate start over 1950m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth with ease. He is the class horse and if fit, he may be hard to peg back.

Race 8

WILD INTENT followed up his debut victory with a good fourth-place finish over 1400m at the Vaal. He was squeezed leaving the starting stalls, but finished off his race strongly. The son of Gimmethegreenlight looks to have some class about him and he may be the one to side with.

CHESTNUT BOMBER was running on when second over 1450m on this course last time. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

ZIP CODE was running on when second over 1450m on the Vaal Classic course last time. He returns from an 11-week break, during which time he was gelded. Muzi Yeni rides on his return and if fit, he should be involved at the finish
