Race 1

Six of the eight runners in this contest are unraced and the betting market will be the best guide with regards to their chances. BLUE VELVET showed good improvement in her last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She showed good pace and stayed on at the finish. She is a progressive type and with experience on her side, she should give the males a run for their money.

READY SET FIRE ran a fair race on debut over this C&D. He would have come on from the run and should make the natural improvement.

MONTANA LIGHTS is an unraced daughter of Master Of My Fate from the Johan Janse van Vuuren yard with stable jockey Gavin Lerena in the saddle. If not too green, she should start her career on a positive note.

Race 2

Five of the horses in this contest are first-timers and the betting market will be the best guide with regards to their chances. KINDRED HEART ran a decent race on debut over this C&D. She showed pace and stayed on to finish third. She would have come on from the run and with the natural improvement that is expected, she may be the one to side with.

SIMPLY MAJESTIC ran a fair race on debut over this C&D. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and there should be improvement to come from the daughter of Canford Cliffs.

IGNITETHELIGHT is the stable companion of the second choice and she is a daughter of Gimmethegreenlight. She is related to two-time winner Icy Night. If not in need of the run, she should start her career on a positive note.

Race 3

SAY IT WITH ROSES was in need of her debut effort over 1450m on the Vaal Classic course. She had to be hard-ridden but finished her race off nicely. The daughter of Flower Alley would have gained from the experience and she should love the rise to 1600m. With the natural improvement that is expected and with Gavin Lerena in the saddle, she can win a race of this nature.

MORE THAN ALL ran a fair race in her stable debut last time. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

DUCHESS OF SEVILLE finished 0.75 lengths behind the second selection on debut. She would have come on from the run and should make the natural progression.

Race 4

RED KNOT was a tad disappointing in her last start over 1200m. Her debut effort when sixth over 1160m on this course was encouraging. The manner in which she finished off her race that day suggests that she will love the rise to the mile. The daughter of Gold Standard is a progressive type and from pole position, she may be the one to side with.

THUNEE PLAYA has produced two good third place finishes to date. He ran on strongly over this C&D last time. It must be noted that Jury’s Out has come out and won again since. He is having his first run for the Lorenzo Karriem stable and is one of the leading contenders.

PRESLEY has produced three decent efforts to date. The manner in which he finished off his race last time suggests that he will enjoy the rise to the mile. He is carded to race on 23 December 2023 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.

Race 5

ON THE HORIZON took the lead at the 100m mark last time, but was caught in the shadow of the post by George Handel. She won a good race in her penultimate start over this distance at the Vaal. The daughter of Judpot will love the drop to the mile and she can return to winning ways.

BONIKA finished 2 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 3kgs better off at the weights today which is enough for the tables to be turned. However, ON THE HORIZON won easier than the official margin suggests and she may still have the upper hand.

CAPE LIGHTS has good consistent form lines to her credit. She has won twice, finished second three times and third once from seven starts over this distance. She always gives of her best and merits healthy respect.

Race 6

DYCE is a winner of his last three starts. He showed good speed in the Grade 3 New Turf Carriers Merchants last time and was geared down. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of William Longsword is the class horse in this contest and should take a power of beating.

MRS BROWNING won a good race in her last start over this C&D in the Grade 3 Carry On Alice Stakes. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. She carries a light mass of 50.5kgs and should give another good account of herself.

COLDHARDSTARE finished 1.25 lengths behind the second choice last time. She is 2.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around.

Race 7

LET’S GO NOW ran a good race when third in the Grade 3 Betway Fillies Mile. She raced from a handy position and stayed on at the finish. It must be noted that Gimme A Nother has come out and won again since. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she will love the rise to 1800m. She is the best-weighted runner in this contest and can return to winning ways.

WITBLITS is unbeaten since joining the Tony Peter stable. Her last two victories have come over this C&D. She does have to contend with the widest draw but gets the services of Calvin Habib who will give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

PERFECT WITNESS is a winner of her last three starts. She has won twice, finished second once and third once from seven starts over this distance. She will be mowing down the frontrunners.

Race 8

BACK IN BUSINESS lost a length leaving the start over 1200m on the Vaal Classic course last time and finished off his race well. He won his first two career outings on this course. The son of William Longsword would have come on from his comeback run and should strip much fitter. He steps up to the 1400m and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he can return to winning ways.

FUNKY MUSIC ran a very good race when second in the Non-Black Type WSB Grand Heritage last time. He is clearly in a good space and merits healthy respect.

TIRPITZ won a game race in his last start over this C&D. He is having his peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. From his good draw of three, he cannot be ignored.

Race 9

RICHARD THE FIRST was not beaten far in the Non-Black Type WSB Grand Heritage last time. The manner in which he stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. The son of William Longsword takes a drop- in class and Muzi Yeni may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

MO THE MAN has consistent form lines to his credit. He has finished third twice from as many starts over this C&D. He tries the blinkers for the first time which should keep his mind on the task at hand.

RATTLE BAG took on stronger in her last start over 1450m on the Inside course. She drops back in class and with the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Trent Mayhew, she should go close
