Race 1

BLUP BLUP has finished second in both her career outings to date. She took the lead at the 200m mark last time, but was caught in the shadow of the post by Striking Angel. The daughter of Twice Over is a progressive type and may be the one to side with. She is carded to race on 14 December 2023 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.

MIA MOO produced an encouraging debut effort over this C&D. She returns from a 27-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. Richard Fourie is booked to ride on her return and if fit, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

GOLD AGENT is better than her last start against the males. Her penultimate run when second over this C&D was eye-catching. If finding the form of that race, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 2

ELEGANT ICE showed good speed over 1160m on this course last time, but found one too good in the form of Cullinan Blue. She would have come on from the outing and should strip much fitter. The daughter of What A Winter is the best-weighted runner in this contest and she can return to winning ways.

TROPPO VELOCE stayed on when fourth in the Grade 3 Carry On Alice Stakes last time. She won a good race in her penultimate run over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course. She is carded to race on 14 December 2023 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.

SWING UPON A STAR should be the first male past the post. He is better than his last start in the Grade 3 New Turf Carriers Merchants. On his previous form, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 3

SECRET CHORD has finished second in his last two starts. He raced from just off the pace over 1200m at the Vaal last time, but found one too good in the form of Sabre Strike. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

MAJOR STRIDES produced a promising debut effort over 1000m in a work riders race. He lost two lengths leaving the start, but the manner in which he finished off his race caught the eye. The son of Crusade would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should pose a threat.

DHOW SOLO ran a fair race on debut over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She returns from a 14-week break, during which time she changed stables. With the natural improvement that is expected, she should give the males a run for their money.

Race 4

ROMEO’S MAGIC took on stronger in his last start over this distance at the Vaal. His form prior to that outing was consistent. He drops back in class and if putting his best foot forward, he should notch up his seventh career victory.

MONSIEUR CHEVELLE’S last two starts have been fair. He finished 2.1 lengths behind the top choice in his penultimate run. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

SPARKLING JUBILEE was running on when third over 1600m on the Vaal Classic course last time. She steps up to the 2000m and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, she should be competitive.

Race 5

AVOONTOAST has fair consistent form lines to her credit. She has won once and finished third once from as many starts on this course. The daughter of Twice Over has dropped to a competitive rating and she takes a drop-in class. Craig Zackey is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

KIND JUDY was an easy winner of her last start over 2400m on this course. She has won twice, finished second three times and third twice from nine starts on this course. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

PRETTY IN PEARLS’ last two starts have been fair. She has won twice and finished third once from seven starts over this distance. With a bit of luck in running, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 6

HOME OF THE BRAVE has good consistent form lines to his credit. He stayed on when third over 2000m on this course last time. It must be noted that Perfect Witness has come out and won again since. He drops back to the 1400m and may be rewarded for consistency.

SILVER TUDOR was not beaten far in the Non-Black Type WSB Grand Heritage. He should have finished closer that day as he had to be steadied at the 200m mark. On his previous form, he should pose a threat.

ARGO ALLEY won a good race in the Non-Black Type WSB Heritage Consolation. He finished 2.7 lengths behind the second choice, three runs ago. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.

Race 7

GIMME A NOTHER is unbeaten from three starts to date. She was super-impressive when winning the Grade 3 Betway Fillies Mile last time. She was slow into stride, but quickened up well and ran on strongly. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight meets a competitive field with older rivals but she carries a handy galloping mass of 53kgs and should keep her unbeaten record intact.

BAVARIAN BEAUTY is a winner of her last two starts, the latest of which was over 1400m on this course. She would have come on from her season debut and is one of the leading contenders.

FEATHER BOA has good consistent form lines to her credit. It must be noted that the horse that finished third in her last outing has come out and won since. She has finished second three times and third once from as many starts over this C&D. She always gives of her best and merits healthy respect.

Race 8

WILLOW EXPRESS’ last three starts have been fair. He was not beaten far in the Non-Black Type WSB Heritage Consolation last time. He drops back in class and if putting his best foot forward, he can return to winning ways.

COLORADO CREEK ran a fair race over 1800m on the Vaal Classic course last time. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. She is a filly with plenty of scope and should give the males a run for their money.

FORT LAUDERDALE ran a fair race over this distance on the Vaal Classic course last time. He won a good race over 1450m on the Inside course in his penultimate run. He takes a slight drop-in class and must be included in all bets
