Race 4: GOLIATH HERON (4)
Race 5: GOLDEN ASPEN (5)
Magic Tips Best Bets
Race 2: MORAINE (4)
Jockey: K de Melo – Trainer: J Janse van Vuuren
MORAINE followed up her debut victory with a good second-place finish over 1450m on this course. She jumped outwards leaving the starting stalls, but the manner in which she finished off her race was encouraging. The daughter of Silvano will be at home over the mile and she should strip much fitter. She is the horse to beat with Keagan de Melo in the saddle.
Race 5: VIVACIOUS SPIRIT (4)
Jockey: G Lerena – Trainer: J Janse van Vuuren
VIVACIOUS SPIRIT followed up her debut victory with a good second-place finish over this C&D. She showed good speed that day, but was outrun late by What A Honey who has come out and won again since. The daughter of Silvano is well weighted in this contest and with Gavin Lerena back in the saddle, she should be the horse to beat.
Top Bet For Today
Race 7: HOUSTON (2)
Jockey: K de Melo – Trainer: C Dawson
HOUSTON is the best bet on the programme. He ran a good race when finishing second over 1500m on the Vaal Classic course last time. The son of The United States should be at home over the mile. He jumps from a good draw of four and in this type of field, he can go one better.
Race 8: PRAGMATIST (8)
Jockey: K de Melo – Trainer: J A Janse van Vuuren
PRAGMATIST followed up his maiden victory with a good second-place finish over 1700m on the Vaal Classic course. He stayed on nicely at the finish that day, but found one too good in the form of Good Council, who looks above average. The son of Jackson has plenty of scope and from his good draw of four, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure
Value Bet For Today
Race 6: SEQUOIA (1)
Jockey: R Simons – Trainer: M de Kock
SEQUOIA has fair recent form lines to his credit. He has won once and finished third once from three starts on this course. The son of Querari takes a drop in class and despite his big mass of 61.5kgs, he is capable of returning to winning ways
