Race 1

SECRET CHORD ran a good race when second over 1000m at Turffontein last time. He showed good speed, but was outrun late by Ethanator. The tongue-tie seems to have done the trick on the son of Bezrin. He meets the right field today and Muzi Yeni may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

TRIP TO STATES is better than his last start as the jockey reported something to be amiss. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He has finished third in both his efforts over this C&D. On best form shown, he should be competitive.

SABRE STRIKE is an unraced son of William Longsword from the Lucky Houdalakis stable with Craig Zackey aboard. He is related to multiple winners including Rocket Girl and Captain Of Stealth. If not too green, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.

Race 2

RED KNOT produced a promising debut effort over 1160m at Turffontein. She understandably was green in running, shifted to the inside of the track and finished off her race nicely. The daughter of Gold Standard would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should be the one to beat in this line-up.

SUGARY SWEET showed good speed when second over this C&D last time. She is holding her form nicely and should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

ARCTIC COMMANDER has fair recent form lines to her credit. She finished third in her only attempt over this C&D. Muzi Yeni retains the ride and she should earn another cheque for her patrons.

Race 3

DUKE OF ROCK is better than his last two starts suggest. He may not have seen out the 1600m in his penultimate run and may not have enjoyed the fitting of the blinkers in his latest effort. The headgear has been quickly removed. The son of Duke Of Marmalade won his maiden over this C&D. He takes a slight drop-in the ratings and with Muzi Yeni in the saddle, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

AFTER HOURS is better than his last start as he raced wide around the turn. His form prior to that outing was consistent. He drops back in class and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

MESCAL ran a fair race in this class over this C&D last time. He has won once, finished second twice and third once from six starts on this course. If getting away to a clean start, he should run into the money.

Race 4

GOBSMACKED was not disgraced when sixth in the Grade 2 Post Merchants last time. She returns from a 23-week break which would have done her the world of good. She is a filly with a lot of ability and it is encouraging that Richard Fourie is booked to ride. If not in need of this outing, she can notch up her fifth career victory.

MOVER AND SHAKER finished 5 lengths behind CAPTAIN HINDSIGHT last time. He is 7.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He is likely to race on the speed with the 4kgs apprentice claim and may be hard to peg back.

SHELDON finished 3.8 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 2kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around.

Race 5

RENY is better than her last start in the Grade 1 Ridgemont Garden Province Stakes. She returns from a 23-week break which would have done her the world of good. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight has plenty of class and will be suited to this long straight when they turn for home. Her trainer is no stranger to bringing his horses back to the course fit for their return and she should give the males a run for their money.

GUY GIBSON was a tad disappointing in the Grade 2 Jonsson Workwear Dingaans. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. He gets the blinkers fitted for the first time which should keep his mind on the task at hand.

HAWKBILL ran a fair race over 1800m last time. It must be noted that Purple Pitcher has come out and won again since. He is ideally suited to this course and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, he should run into the money.

Race 6

ON THE HORIZON is unbeaten from three starts to date. She won a good race when returning from a 12- week break over 1600m last time. The daughter of Judpot should have no issues with the step up to 1800m. This is her toughest test to date, but she looks to be above average and can keep her unbeaten record intact.

STREET ART ran a good race when second over 2000m at Turffontein last time. It must be noted that Perfect Witness has come out and won again since. Despite top weight, he should be the first male past the post.

TWIN TURBO stayed on when second over 2000m on this course last time. He has won twice and finished third once from four starts over this C&D. Apprentice Kobeli Lihaba takes the 4kgs off his back and he may be hard to catch.

Race 7

UNZEN ran a good race when third in his last start over 1400m at Turffontein, despite the jockey reporting something to be amiss. He is a horse with ability and should enjoy racing on the straight course. If putting his best foot forward, he is capable of winning a race of this nature.

SILENT WAR is a winner of his last three starts for the Tony Peter stable. It must be noted that the form of his last outing has been franked. He should be ideally suited to this distance and merits healthy respect.

CELTIC RUMOURS was an easy winner of her last start over 1450m on the Turffontein Inside course. She finished third in her only attempt on this course. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and she should give the males a run for their money.

Race 8

THE AFRICA HOUSE ran a creditable race in the Grade 2 Jonsson Workwear Dingaans despite reported to be not striding out and fatigued. He was not disgraced when finishing fourth in his penultimate run in the Grade 3 Betway Graham Beck Stakes in his penultimate run. The son of What A Winter is the best-weighted runner in this contest and he should take a power of beating.

GOOD COUNCIL showed good signs of a form return in his last start over 1400m at Turffontein. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He will strip much fitter and is one of the leading contenders.

TSAR BOMBA has decent recent form lines to his credit. How he finished off his last outing suggests that he will enjoy the rise to 1475m. He is having his peak run and with just 53.5kgs on his back, he should run a positive race.

Race 9

BOOM BOOM followed up her maiden victory with a decent fourth-place finish over this C&D. She raced from a handy position that day before getting outrun late. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and in this field, she may be the one to side with.

SUMMER OF DREAMS finished 1.55 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result. She is having her second run after a rest and will strip much fitter.

ROSE TINTED finished 3.05 lengths behind the top choice in the race referred to above. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. She is having her peak run and can finish in the placings
