Race 1

AMBER ROCK was considered good enough to contest in feature races in her first two career outings. Her debut effort when second behind Lucky Lad in the Grade 3 Protea Stakes catches the eye. She returns from a lengthy 32-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight meets the right field and if not in need of the run, she should take a power of beating.

NIGHT VIGIL showed good speed over 1250m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time, but was outrun late. She will enjoy the drop to 1000m. It is encouraging that Craig Zackey retains the ride and she is one of the leading contenders.

NILE THE BOSS has decent recent form lines to her name. She tries the blinkers for the first time which should keep her mind on the task at hand. Aldo Domeyer is booked to ride and he may be able to get the best out of her.

Race 2

GUARDING THE WALL is better than his last start over 1400m. His previous two efforts over 1250m were encouraging. His best career effort came in Open Maiden Company and if suited to the straight course, he can win a race of this nature.

OTIS THE BRAVE finished 0.3 lengths behind TAMBOURINE MAN last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He is having his peak run today and should be involved in the fight to the finish.

TAMBOURINE MAN was running on too late when second over 1250m last time. He carries another handy galloping mass of 53kgs and should produce another honest effort.

Race 3

FRENCH TRIP showed some signs of needing his debut effort over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. He finished 3 lengths behind KWITE A KING that day. He is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He would have come on from the run and with the natural improvement that is expected, he may be the one to beat.

GREENLAND has decent form lines to his credit. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in his last outing has come out and won since. He is the stable elect with Grant van Niekerk in the saddle and merits obvious inclusion.

KWITE A KING showed good improvement in his last start over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. The blinkers seem to have done the trick and he will love the rise to the mile. With luck in running, he may have more to come.

Race 4

CARRIACOU stayed on when second over this distance at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time. It must be noted that Montien has come out and won again since. He is drawn widest of all, but gets the services of Richard Fourie who will give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

PROMETTERE finished 0.3 lengths behind POMODORO’S JET last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has won once and finished second twice from four starts over this C&D. He is having his peak run and should be competitive.

POMODORO’S JET won a game race in his last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. He won his only attempt over this C&D. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

Race 5

CALL TO UNITE was super-impressive when winning his maiden at the third time of asking over this distance at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. He raced from a handy position, quickened up well and was geared down in the run down to the line. The son of Vercingetorix takes on stronger, but he has class about him and should be up to the task at hand.

WILLIAM THE FIRST has decent recent form lines to his credit. It must be noted that multiple horses from his last form line have come out and won since. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

AVIGNON finished 0.5 lengths behind GENTLEMAN JOE last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He won his maiden over this distance and with luck in running, he should go close to winning.

Race 6

PRICELESS ran on from last when winning her last start with ease over 2000m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. The daughter of Dynasty received a three-pound penalty for that victory. She meets similar company this afternoon and despite her big mass of 61.5kgs, she can follow up.

WINDRUNNER followed up her maiden win with a decent third-place finish over 1600m. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she will be at home over 1800m and she should pose a threat.

LOREINA ran on strongly when winning her maiden at the third time of asking. She does take on stronger, but is lightly raced and has plenty of scope.

Race 7

SURJAY moved up well in his last start over 1100m, tried hard but found one too good in the form of Thunderstruck. He has won four times and finished second once from six starts over this C&D. He would have come on from his last outing and should strip much fitter. The 5yo gelding can notch up his fifth career victory.

COUNTDOWN finished 1.9 lengths behind KING REGENT last time. He is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He is having his peak run and Richard Fourie may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

QUASIFORSURE ran on strongly when winning his last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville. He has won once and finished second twice from as many starts on this course. Calvin Habib takes the ride and he merits healthy respect.

Race 8

ALL ABOUT AL finished 0.3 lengths behind MASKED VIGILANTE last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line. He has won twice, finished second twice and third three times from 11 starts over this C&D. Gareth Wright retains the ride and the combination will be mowing down the frontrunners.

MASKED VIGILANTE stayed on when second over 1250m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time. Two of his three career victories have come over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

TOUGH TERRAIN was running on when second over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. He is in a good space and must be included in all bets.

Race 9

TRIP TO MAPUTO followed up her maiden win with an equally impressive victory over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. She was settled at the rear of the field that day, quickened up well and won with ease. She does meet similar company this afternoon and with luck in running, she can notch up the hat-trick.

LITTLE MISS PINK has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. She was slow into stride last time and ran on from last to finish second. She is likely to adopt the same tactics and is one of the leading contenders.

SUMMER LILY finished 0.5 lengths behind the third choice last time. She is 1kg worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result
