Race 1

Trainer Roy Magner holds a strong hand in this contest and he can saddle the first two past the post. SPRINGER jumped inwards when leaving the start over this distance at Turffontein last time and stayed on to finish fourth. This will be her first run on the Vaal straight course and if suited, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

THE WORK OF LIFE has fair consistent form lines to her name. She may not have seen out the 1800m last time and drops back to the mile. Muzi Yeni steps back into the saddle and she should earn another cheque for her patrons.

KAKIEBOS ran a fair race on debut over 1450m on the Classic course. She was green in running, but stayed on nicely at the finish. She would have come on from the run and will love the rise to the mile. With the natural improvement that is expected, she should be competitive.

Race 2

OFFICER IN COMMAND has shown improvement in each of his outings to date. He stayed on at the finish over this distance at Turffontein last time, but found one too good in the form of Just Nuisance. He is a progressive type and can go one better.

MASTER CHRISTMAS has improved in his last two starts with the cheekpieces fitted. He has plenty of scope and is one of the leading contenders.

EIGER SANCTION ran a fair race over 1450m on the Classic course from an awkward draw. His penultimate run when second over 1400m on this course was encouraging. He will enjoy the step up to the mile and with Muzi Yeni retaining the ride, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 3

CRIMSON FOREST showed good improvement in her last start over this distance on the Classic course. She raced from a handy position, moved up well but was caught late by Exhale. The tongue-tie has done the trick and if confirming her recent improvement, she should find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

OUTER DIMENSION stayed on when fourth over 1800m on the Classic course last time. She is having her peak run and should enjoy the rise to 2000m. Denis Schwarz is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

DARLING HARBOUR ran a fair race over 1600m at Turffontein last time. She steps up to the 2000m and if this run hasn’t come too soon, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 4

CORAPI ran a good race when third against stronger in his last start over 2850m at Turffontein. He won his only attempt over this C&D. He takes a drop-in class and from pole position, he should be hard to peg back.

UNIVERSAL LOVE was running on when second over 1800m at Turffontein last time. The daughter of Ideal World is bred to enjoy the rise to 2400m and she should give the males a run for their money.

BROTHERHOODOFMAGIC is better than his last start over this C&D. It must be noted that Absolute Value has come out and won again since. He gets the services of 1.5kgs claiming apprentice Siyanda Sosibo which will assist his cause. On best form shown, he should be competitive.

Race 5

BRONZE SWORD ran a decent race when third over 1800m at Turffontein last time. He jumped outwards leaving the start, but the manner in which he stayed on at the finish was encouraging. He is having his peak run today and if getting away to a clean start, he can win a race of this nature.

GODFATHER has some decent recent form lines to his name. He stayed on at the finish over 1450m last time, but found one too good in the form of Midnight Caller. With luck in running, he should pose a threat. He is carded to race on 17 December 2023 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.

LUTHULI was in need of his last start over 1500m on this course. He finished third in his only attempt over this C&D. He will strip much fitter and can improve. He is carded to race on 17 December 2023 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.

Race 6

LADY FALLON produced a strong late burst when second over 1400m on this course last time. The manner in which she finished off her race that day suggests that she will love the rise to the mile. The daughter of Act Of War is above average and she can return to winning ways.

MY LADY SOUL is better than her last start in the Grade 3 Betway Fillies Mile. Her penultimate run when fourth over 1160m at Turffontein was encouraging. She returns to Handicap Company and with just 54.5kgs on her back, she is one of the leading contenders.

RADU was not beaten far in her last start. She won a good race in her penultimate outing over this distance at Turffontein. If putting her best foot forward, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 7

TAYOOBA stumbled leaving the starting stalls last time, but the manner in which she stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. If getting away to a clean start, she should return to winning ways.

LIFE GOES ON has good recent form lines to his name. He stayed on when second over this C&D last time. It must be noted that What A Tiger has come out and won again since. The 6yo gelding merits healthy respect.

VAR PARK finished 0.45 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line.

Race 8

ANYTIME CHAMP finished 0.1 lengths behind ZOOMBOMBER last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has dropped from a merit rating of 91 right down to 53. The 1400m will be right up his alley and with just 52.5kgs on his back, he may be the one to cause the upset.

KING RAHUL has taken on slightly stronger company since winning his maiden. He has won once and finished second once from three starts on this course. He will strip much fitter and with Gavin Lerena in the saddle, he can return to best form.

NEVER TO CLEVER ran a fair race over 1200m on this course last time. Two of his three career victories have come over this C&D. Calvin Habib takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most
