Race 1
ZANTHAR ran a fair race when taking on winners in his last start over 1400m at Turffontein. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. He is back in Maiden Company and may be the one to beat. He is carded to race on 20 July 2024 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.
FINAL TRY set the pace over 1400m at Turffontein last time, but found one too good in the form of Rossore Finale. He will strip much fitter and is one of the leading contenders.
HIGHVELD STORM showed good improvement in his last start over 1200m on this course. He will strip much fitter and if repeating that effort, he should earn another cheque for his patrons.
Race 2
FAR REACHING took on winners in her last start over 1000m on the Turffontein Inside course. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She should enjoy the extra distance on offer and back in Maiden Company, she should be involved at the finish.
TOGETHER AGAIN has consistent form lines to her credit. She raced from a prominent position over 1000m last time and stayed on to finish fourth. She is carded to race on 20 July 2024 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.
CARTAGENA was disappointing in her last start. Her penultimate run when fourth over 1200m on this course was encouraging. She gets the services of 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Trent Mayhew which will assist her cause.
Race 3
MANZ KNIGHT lost a length leaving the start last time, but stayed on to finish fourth over 2000m on the Turffontein Inside course. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He will strip a much fitter horse and in this field, he may be the one to beat. He is carded to race on 23 July 2024 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.
TAXHAVEN raced in the Grade 3 DStv Gold Vase last time. He finished second in his only attempt over this distance. He has been costly to follow but cannot be ignored.
RASTIGNAC ran a fair race in his stable debut over 1800m in a work riders contest. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. He has scope and can finish in the placings.
Race 4
FIFTH OF JULY’S last three starts have been good. He took the lead at the 150m mark last time, but was touched off by Sparkling Jubilee. He has won once, finished second twice and third twice from eleven starts over this distance. Gavin Lerena takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
HAVE A PARTY was running on after a slow start last time. If getting away to a clean break, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice. She is carded to race on 18 July 2024 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.
CERULEAN DANCER’S last two starts have been fair. She gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Brevan Plaatjies which will assist her cause. She is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.
Race 5
BEGUILING finished 1.45 lengths behind FEELING GROOVY last time. She is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She carries a light mass of 49kgs and with luck in running, she can notch up her second-career victory.
FEELING GROOVY challenged strongly in her last start over 1800m, but found one too good in the form of Gilda Gray. All three victories have come over this distance. She is carded to race on 18 July 2024 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.
LINGANOMORE is better than her last start on the Hollywoodbets Greyville Polytrack. She finished second in her only attempt over this C&D. With luck from her wide draw, she should be hard to peg back.
Race 6
RISKY BUSINESS was running on when second over 1160m on the Standside course last time. She has finished second once and third twice from four starts on this course. She is having her peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. Muzi Yeni retains the ride and she should be mowing down the frontrunners.
SOUTHERN STYLE has fair recent form lines to her name. If keeping on a straight line, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.
WRITTEN IN STONE has not finished too far off the winner in her last three starts. If finding the form of her penultimate run, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 7
DANCING DORA stumbled leaving the start last time, but stayed on to finish third. She won her only attempt over this C&D. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and if getting away to a clean start, she can win a race of this nature.
GREEN BUBBLES ran on from last when winning her last start over 1450m on the Turffontein Inside course. She received a three-pound penalty for that victory. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
RED CARPET GIRL stayed on when fourth over 1160m at Turffontein last time. She is back against her own sex and must be included in all bets.
Race 8
THE NAVY LARK took on stronger in her last start over 1200m. She has won once and finished third once from four starts over this distance. Apprentice Trent Mayhew takes the 2.5kgs off her back and on best form shown, she should give the males a run for their money.
LIFE GOES ON has shown signs of needing his last two starts. Two of his six career victories have come over this distance. On best form shown, he should be the first male past the post. He is carded to race on 20 July 2024 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.
INAFIX is better than his last start over this trip on the Turffontein Inside course. He has won over this C&D previously and on best form shown, he may be the one to cause the upset
