Race 1

This is a weak Maiden Plate and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is MAGIC PRINCE from the Mike de Kock stable. He is better than his last start over 1000m. His form prior to that outing was consistent. Work rider Chamu Mabaya has finished second on the son of Willow Magic in the past and in this line-up, he may be the one to side with.

FULL GO is still a maiden after 30 starts, but his last run over 1200m on this course was creditable. He steps back up to 1450m and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

UNCLE LUCKY‘S last three starts have been fair. The 3yo gelding should have no issues with the drop to 1450m and with the services of Siyabonga Mthembu, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 2

CLIFF HANGER faced much stronger in the Grade 1 Gold Medallion last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Canford Cliffs showed good guts and determination when winning the Grade 3 Godolphin Barb Stakes in his penultimate effort. He has class about him and if suited to this course, he should take a power of beating

QHAWE LAMI is a winner of his last two starts over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. The son of Duke Of Marmalade is in a good space and if keeping on a straight line, he should throw out a challenge to the top choice.

GLOBAL THUNDER took on a strong field in the Grade 1 Allan Robertson Championship last time. It must be noted that Mrs Geriatrix has come out and won again since. She won her maiden over this distance and should give the males a run for their money.

Race 3

GOCEKWITHLOVE produced a decent debut effort over 1200m against winners. She was slow into stride, understandably raced green but the manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The daughter of Danon Platina would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should be the one to beat.

BUTTERNUTENROOIWYN showed good improvement in her last start over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. She would have come on from the run and will strip much fitter. Gavin Lerena retains the ride and she may have more to come.

SOLO DIVA produced some good form before given a 24-week break. Muzi Yeni takes the ride on her return and if fit, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 4

GREENLIGHT MAGIC stayed on at the finish over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course, but found one too good in the form of Luthuli. The son of Gimmethegreenlight is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. He gets the services of 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Siyanda Sosibo which will help his cause. He will be mowing down the frontrunners in the run down to the line.

MO THE MAN followed up his maiden victory with a good third-place finish over 1600m on this course. He takes a drop-in class and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should be hard to peg back.

HAZLO GRANDE raced from a handy position over this C&D last time, moved up well but was caught late. The son of Erupt tries the blinkers for the first time which should keep his mind on the task at hand. He has plenty of scope and should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 5

WINNING QUEEN raced from a handy position over 1800m on the Turffontein Inside course last time, moved up well but was caught late by Kwazzi’s Lady who has come out and won again since. She has won once and finished third once from three starts over this C&D. The 7yo mare carries another handy galloping mass of 52.5kgs and can notch up her third career victory.

BALLROOM BLISS was an easy winner of her last start over this distance on the Turffontein Standside course. She finished 2 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run. She is 2.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.

ANGEL‘S WISH finished 3.5 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

Race 6

ABSOLUTE VALUE is better than his last start on the polytrack at Hollywoodbets Greyville. He has won once, finished second once and third twice from as many starts over this distance. The son of Master Of My Fate is likely to go forward from draw five and he may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.

MONSIEUR CHEVELLE finished 8.5 lengths behind the top choice last time. He has won once and finished second once from three starts over this C&D. He tries the blinkers for the first time which should keep his mind on the task at hand. Improvement is expected.

MANZ KNIGHT is a maiden taking on winners. He was running on when second over 1800m at Turffontein last time. It must be noted that Celtic Rush has come out and won again since. He will enjoy the rise to 2400m and can earn another cheque for his patrons.

Race 7

FORT LAUDERDALE finished 1.5 lengths behind AFTER HOURS last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line. He tries the 1450m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should be involved. He is carded to race on 06 July 2023 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.

AFTER HOURS has good recent form lines to his credit. He tried hard over this distance last time, but found one too good in the form of Funky Music. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, he should go close to winning.

GREEN SCEPTRE finished 3.85 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 1kg worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the tables.

Race 8

WHAT A TIGER stayed on when fourth over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time. The son of What A Winter takes a drop-in class and with Muzi Yeni back in the saddle, he is capable of returning to winning ways in this field.

INSATIABLE was a tad disappointing in her last start over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. Her penultimate run when second catches the eye. She is carded to race on 08 July 2023 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.

MIA REGINA finished 2.35 lengths behind the second choice last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. She is carded to race on 08 July 2023
