Race 1

HAWKBILL is the best bet on the programme. He rallied late when second over 1200m on this course, three weeks ago. The son of Elusive Fort is a progressive type and will love the step up to 1400m. Craig Zackey retains the ride and he should go one better.

HOTARUBI ran a decent race when third against winners over 1450m on the Turffontein Inside course last time. He raced from a handy position and stayed on at the finish. Keagan de Melo takes the ride and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

GEORGE HANDEL has produced two decent efforts to date. He finished 1.95 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.

Race 2

EMPRESS GAME produced a promising debut effort when second over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. She challenged strongly, but found one too good in the form of Qhawe Lami. The daughter of Pathfork found betting support that day which suggests that she was showing good work at home. She would have come on from the run and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should take a power of beating.

SOUTHERN STYLE finished 3 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.

JASIRI is an unraced daughter of Canford Cliffs and she is a stable companion of the top choice. She is related to five- time winner Bingwa. Keagan de Melo takes the ride and if not too green, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances.

Race 3

ROZARA finished 3.5 lengths behind BIG EYED GIRL last time. She is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line. She has won twice, finished second once and third twice from six starts over this C&D. If jumping on terms, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

BIG EYED GIRL stayed on when fourth against male company over this C&D, last week. She was ultra-impressive when winning her penultimate start at Turffontein. If this run has not come too soon, she should go close to winning.

MAY QUEEN finished 0.1 lengths behind the second choice last time. She is 1.5kgs worse off at the weights today and she may have to settle for the same result.

Race 4

RAFFLES stayed on strongly when third over 1800m at Turffontein last time. The son of Time Thief won his only attempt on this course. He will love the step up to 2000m and from pole position, he can return to winning ways.

STREET ART was outclassed in the Grade 1 Daily News 2000 last time. He won a good race in his penultimate start over this distance on the Classic course. Denis Schwarz steps back into the saddle and he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

WILLOW’S WISH has good recent form lines to his credit. He should have won his last start as he hung in the closing stages. Keagan de Melo takes the ride and if keeping on a straight line, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 5

CALLMEWHENUNEEDME is a juvenile taking on older rivals. She jumped outwards leaving the start over 1000m last time, over raced but fought hard all the way to the line. It must be noted that Ripple Effect has come out and won again since. The daughter of Master Of My Fate looks to have class about her and she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure under Keagan de Melo.

SAMOA has good recent form lines to her name. She finished fourth against male company over 1200m on this course, last week. If this run has not come too soon, she should go close to winning.

LOVE BITE finished 3 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

Race 6

VIRGINIA BEACH is better than her last start in the Listed Ruffian Stakes. It must be noted that Mrs Geriatrix has come out and won a Grade 1 and Grade 2 since. She returns from a 15-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. The daughter of Silvano shows good speed in her races and if not in need of the run, she may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.

LAETITIA’S ANGEL was doing her best work late against male company over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time. She won her only attempt over this C&D. She is back against her own sex and merits healthy respect.

CLEAN LIVING finished 1.05 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

Race 7

CLEAVER GREENE should have won his last start over 1160m at Turffontein as he hung in the closing stages. He is unbeaten from two starts on this course and has finished second in both attempts over this distance. The son of Rafeef tries the blinkers which should keep his mind on the task at hand. He is having his peak run and can go one better.

SHELDON finished 1.75 lengths behind GODSWOOD last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The son of Querari always gives of his best and merits obvious inclusion.

GODSWOOD was a tad disappointing in his last start at Turffontein. He has won four times from seven starts on this course. 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Siyanda Sosibo retains the ride and with luck in running, he should be competitive.

Race 8

LULU’S BOY is better than his last start over this distance on the Hollywoodbets Greyville Polytrack. He was not disgraced when fifth behind Dave The King in his penultimate start. He has won once and finished second once from four starts over this C&D. It is encouraging that S’manga Khumalo steps back into the saddle and in this type of field, he can return to winning ways.

RAMCHANDANI ROAD has been taking on slightly stronger in recent outings. He has dropped in the ratings and takes a drop-in class. If keeping on a straight line, he should throw out a big challenge.

PHINDA MZALA is the stable companion of the second choice. He ran a fair race over this distance on the Hollywoodbets Greyville Polytrack last time. Keagan de Melo steps back into the saddle and he will be staying on at the business end
