THE GYPSY KING has produced three good runs to date. He raced from a handy position in his last start, but was reported to be blowing post race. The son of Pomodoro looks to be progressive and from his good draw of two, he should be the one to beat.

ANCIENT ROME is one of the better bets on today's card. He stayed on well at the finish in his last start over a mile at the Vaal. The son of Where's That Tiger will enjoy the rise to the ten furlongs and with just 52kgs on his back, he should take a power of beating.

GOLD GRIFFIN lost many lengths at the start last time, but still managed to run on for a creditable fifth-place finish. He likes racing over this distance with a record of one win, one second and two third place finishes from five attempts. Warren Kennedy steps back into the saddle today and if jumping on terms, he may be the one to beat.

GIMMETHEGOAHEAD ran a fair race on debut over 1160m at Turffontein. It must be noted that Nourbese who finished ahead of him that day has come out and won a Grade 2 since. The son of Gimmethegreenlight returns from a 10-week break this afternoon, during which time he would have strengthened up. The step up in distance should suit and if not in need of this run, he may be the one to beat.
