Football Liverpool120Some big guns meet in Round 3 of the Uefa Champions League on Wednesday when our focus is on Barcelona v Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig v Liverpool

Barcelona 13/10 Draw 28/10 Bayern Munich 1.75/1 (Sportingbet)

Barca have won 1 and lost 1 of their first 2 matches in the new UCL format. First time out they went down 2-1 away to Monaco but they bounced back in some style in Round 2, thrashing Young Boys 5-0 in their first home fixture including a brace for Lewandowski.

Barca are 3 points clear of Real Madrid after 10 rounds of La Liga matches and they top the log with a record of 9 wins and 1 defeat. They have won all 4 home fixtures in the league, scoring 15 goals and conceding 2.

Bayern opened with with a 9-2 demolition of Zagreb in the opening round with Harry Kane scoring 4 of the goals including 2 from the penalty spot. They have made a habit of qualifying for the knockout rounds with tons of daylight but they received a jolt in Round 2 when they went down 1-0 away to Aston Villa.

Bayern top the Bundesliga unbeaten with 5 wins and 2 draws courtesy of a better goal difference than RB Leipzig. They have scored 24 league goals whilst conceding 7.

Since August 2020 Bayern have won each of the last 5 head to heads scoring a whopping 19 goals to Barca's 2.

The Verdict

Neither side will want to lose a second game in the opening 3 rounds, and despite that H2H record to me they look closely matched. The draw is a big runner in my book.

Bets: Match result draw at 28/10 with Sportingbet

RB Leipzig 31/10 Draw 28/10 Liverpool 0.88/1

Leipzig have another tough fixture and they are under some pressure having lost their first 2 matches. In their opening game they took an early lead away to Atletico but they finished beaten 2-1, conceding the decisive goal in the 90th minute. In a Round 2 home fixture against Juventus Leipzig were beaten 3-2, a game they led 1-0 and 2-1.

Leipzig have scored 11 Bundesliga goals and conceded 2 in winning 5 and drawing 2 of their matches to sit right on the heels of Bayern.

Liverpool have been more than comfortable in taking maximum points from a 3-1 win away to AC Milan followed by a 2-0 home win over Bologna.

After 8 rounds of EPL matches Liverpool top the log, 1 point clear of Manchester City and 4 in front of the other chasers. They have won 7 and lost 1 of their league games, most recently beating Chelsea 2-1 at Anfield and this coming weekend they visit Arsenal.

The Verdict

On the weekly football thread on our discussion forum Vinn highlighted Liverpool's forthcoming visit to Arsenal on the back of a hard fought win over Chelsea as a justification to oppose the visitors in this game and given Leipzig's need to get on the board in the UCL, he could well be on to something. Leipzig or Draw is an even money chance if you agree.

I'm looking for an anytime goal scorer and the Benjamin Sesko fits the bill for the hosts.
