Race 2
EXECUTRIX showed very good improvement when third over 1200m last time. She showed good speed before getting caught late. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The drop to 1000m should not be an issue and if fit, she should be the one to beat.
ENDIZAYO produced a promising debut effort over this C&D. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Querari would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should pose a threat.
ON A JET PLANE ran a fair race when third over 1400m last time. The daughter of Bezrin is a progressive type and there should be more to come from her.
Race 3
GREENHOUSE ran a good race when third on debut over 1200m on the Turffontein Inside course. She was slow into stride, understandably raced green but stayed on nicely at the finish. The daughter of Danon Platina would have gained from the experience and should love the extra distance on offer. With the natural improvement that is expected, she may be the one to side with.
FAITHFUL MISTRESS stayed on when third over 1200m on debut. The daughter of Master Of My Fate would have come on from the run and she should improve over the extra distance on offer.
SAUDI SWEEP has produced three decent efforts to date. It must be noted that the form of her last outing has been franked. If jumping on terms, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 4
HAT TRICK OR TREAT set the pace over 1600m on this course last time, but found one too good in the form of Red Legend. The son of Hat Puntano may be at his best over this type of distance at this stage of his career. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and in this field, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
ARCTIC OWL is an unraced son of Querari from the Tony Peter stable with Calvin Habib in the saddle. If not in need of this outing, he should give a good account of himself. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.
EXCEEDINGLY GLAM was in need of her debut effort over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. She returns from a 17-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. If not in need of this outing, she can finish in the placings.
Race 5
GOOD COUNCIL lacked extra late when fourth over 2600m last time. He finished 1.75 lengths behind MERIDIUS in his penultimate run. He is 6kgs better off at the weights today which is enough to turn the form around. The son of Oratorio is unbeaten from two starts on this course and will be looking to keep that record intact.
MERIDIUS won a good race over this distance at Turffontein last time. He has won twice, finished second twice and third once from as many starts on this course. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
BINGWA is better than his last three starts. He has won once and finished second twice from as many starts on this course. On best form shown, he should be involved at the finish.
Race 6
BETULA’S last two starts after returning from a 23-week break have been good. She stayed on when third over 1450m on this course last time. The manner in which she finished off her race that day suggests that she will enjoy the rise to the mile. She will be at peak fitness and can notch up her third- career victory.
ACROSS THE POND is a winner of her last two starts, the latest of which was over this C&D. She takes a rise in class but carries a handy galloping mass of 53.5kgs and can bring up the hat-trick.
HILLARY STEP was in need of her comeback run over 1400m. She won her penultimate effort over this C&D. The daughter of Canford Cliffs will strip a much fitter horse and there should be improvement to come.
Race 7
TWOSTEP QUEEN has good recent form lines to her credit. She stayed on when third over this C&D last time. Muzi Yeni steps back into the saddle and in this line-up, she should be the one to beat.
EASY ON ME fought hard for her maiden victory over 1800m on the Turffontein Inside course. She returns from a well-deserved 12-week break. The daughter of Duke Of Marmalade takes on stronger, but she has scope and should be up to the task at hand.
WILLOWILD followed up her maiden victory with a decent third- place finish over 1400m. The daughter of One World should love the rise to the mile and she will be mowing down the frontrunners.
Race 8
RISKY BUSINESS is a winner of her last four starts. She raced from a prominent position over 1400m last time, found another kick and drew clear of the opposition. She received an eight-pound penalty for that victory. The daughter of Querari is in a good space and she can follow up with another win.
