RACE 1
ANGEL OF MY HEART is having her first run in the Eastern Cape for Trainer Gavin Smith. She stayed on when fourth over 2000m at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She will love the rise to 2200m and if suited to the polytrack, she can shed her maiden tag in this field.
CRIMSON COMET set the pace over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of Lennoxtown. The stable have changed the cheekpieces to blinkers. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
HE’S A GAUL showed good improvement in his first run as a gelding over this C&D. He returns from a 14-week break. If not in need of the outing, he should be involved from pole position.
RACE 2
LUCKY SPIRIT showed good improvement in a work riders race over 1100m on the turf last time. He showed good pace before getting outrun late. The son of Lancaster Bomber is coming along the right way and if taking to the polytrack, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
COLONEL GREEN has improved in his last three starts. He raced from a handy position over 1200m last time and stayed on to finish third. The drop to 1000m may suit him well and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
SERENDIPITOUS is lightly raced with decent form lines to her credit. She returns from a 25-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. This is her first run on the surface and if suited, she should make a positive return.
RACE 3
MEDITERANEANGODDES showed good speed over 1000m on this course last time. She was reported to be making an abnormal respiratory noise that day. She won her penultimate outing over this distance on the turf. The 6-year-old mare meets the right field and she can notch up her third-career victory.
BLUEBERRY BLUE won a good race when shedding her maiden tag over 1000m on this course. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She does take on stronger, but has scope and should give a good account of herself.
JAMBO SANA won a good race over 1200m on this course last time. She received a three-pound penalty for that victory. She is carded to race on 27 September 2024 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.
RACE 4
MORNING CHESS’ last start is best ignored as he was reported to be not striding out. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. His effort when fourth over this C&D, three runs ago was encouraging. Richard Fourie is booked to ride which is a big plus. He is carded to race on 27 September 2024 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.
CHARLIE MALONE’S last two starts have been good. He received a bump at the 200m mark last time which didn’t help his chances. He is carded to race on 27 September 2024 and his progress in that race will need to be followed.
MAGIC PRINCE showed speed over 1000m last time before getting caught late by Knockemstiff. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He jumps from a good draw of three and if confirming his recent improvement, he should be right there.
Race 5
LA PEQUENITA followed up her maiden victory with a good third-place finish over this C&D. She lost a length leaving the start, but the manner in which she ran on at the finish was encouraging. The daughter of Erupt has cracked a good draw of four and if jumping on terms, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
QUERANDI showed improvement in her last start over 1900m on this course. She raced from a handy position and stayed on at the finish. With a bit of luck in running, she may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
KOMESANS PASSION has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. She should enjoy the step up to 1400m and can finish in the placings.
Race 6
HEAD GARDENER set the pace over this C&D last time before getting outrun late by San Quintin. He is likely to get his own way in front from barrier four and if everything goes according to plan, he can go one better.
MALDANO finished 1.75 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result. The son of The United States will be mowing down the frontrunners.
TURNTHEBEATAROUND ran a good race when third under Marco van Rensburg last time. She raced from a handy position and stayed on. If confirming her recent improvement, she should give the males a run for their money.
RACE 7
EAT PREY LOVE was in need of her local debut effort over 1400m on this course. The manner in which she finished off her race that day was encouraging. The daughter of New Predator should love the rise to 1600m. She will strip much fitter and being the stable elect, she should be the one to beat.
UNION ROSE is better than his last start on the turf. His post maiden effort when second over this C&D catches the eye. Should the top choice fluff her lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
BREEDE BABY is the stable companion of the top choice. She should have finished closer to the winner last time. She drops to the mile and if putting her best foot forward, she should be involved at the finish.
RACE 8
GLOBAL SCENE should have finished closer to the winner last time as she hung inwards in the final 300m. The manner in which she finished off her race that day suggests that she will love the rise to 1600m. The daughter of Global View meets the right field and if keeping on a straight line, she can shed her maiden tag.
SIERRA SKY showed good improvement in her last start over 1300m. She should love the rise to 1600m and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, she should have more to come.
BEIJING BOULEVARD is the stable companion of the second selection. She raced wide around the turn last time but did not go on with the effort. On her previous form, she should finish in the placings
