The Proteas will be looking to wrap up the 3 match ODI Series against England when they meet at Old Trafford in Manchester on Friday and we take a look at the game from a betting angle.
South Africa went in to the 1st ODI at Chester-le-Street as the 15/10 underdogs, but they batted well on a pitch that had its complications scoring 333 for 5 in their 50 overs.
South Africa had won the toss and had elected to bat. Rassie van der Dussen was superb with 134 at a strike rate of 114 and there were also excellent contributions from Aiden Markram and Janneman Malan. All of the English bowlers took a little bit of tap and in the end Liam Livingstone would have delivered bowler profits with his two wickets for 30 runs in 4 overs.
England made a solid start, all be it slower than usual and when Roy was dismissed for 43 and then Bairstow for 63 they found themselves in trouble. Joe Root did his best to rescue the situation with 86 at a strike rate of 111, but England folded to be bowled out for 271, South Africa winning by 62 runs. Nortje was destroyer-in-chief with the ball with 4 for 53 off just under 9 overs and Shamsi and Markram both took 2 wickets at economical run rates as the Proteas strangled England with spin.
We don’t have to go back far to find the last time England played an ODI at Manchester, it was last week against India where they scored 259 batting first only to have India chase it down with almost 8 overs to spare.

England 6/10
South Africa 14/10
SUGGESTED BETS:
Highest Individual Score over 102.5 Runs at 17/20
There is likely to be plenty of runs in this wicket and if a player gets in early there is every opportunity to score a century.
Top Home Batsman, Roy at 15/4
Roy looked in decent nick in the 1st ODI although he didn’t seem quite his usual self and I am expecting an aggressive and quick start from him this time round and I like his chances of being the Top England Bat.
Top Away Batsman, Markram at 5/1
Markram looked very impressive in the 1st ODI and although Rassie van der Dussen grabbed the headlines with his century I think Markram is well priced to be the Top South African Bat as I think he should get plenty of time at the crease.
