BettingDiaryMatchday 3 of the English Premier League season takes place this weekend and we preview 3 of the matches from a betting angle.

Two matches into the season and Chelsea have shortened to 26/10 second favourites to win the title behind market leaders, Manchester City who have drifted from 13/20 to 5/4, Liverpool are firm at 4/1 with Manchester United 17/2 and you can get 40/1 and better the balance.

SATURDAY

MANCHESTER CITY v ARSENAL

City got their campaign rolling with a comprehensive 5-0 home victory over Norwich last time out, having lost 1-0 on the road to Tottenham in their opening game.

The Gunners have made an awful start to the season going down 2-0 at home to Chelsea last week and having been beaten by the same score line at Brentford in the opening weekend.

Manchester City have won their 8 EPL fixtures against Arsenal.

Manchester City 1/4

Draw 11/2

Arsenal 10/1

Suggested Bet: Under 2.5 goals at 27/20

I expect Manchester City to win this, but I am not convinced the goals are going to flow and we could get something along the lines of last season’s 1-0 victory for the home team.

LIVERPOOL v CHELSEA

Both of these sides have 100% records after 2 matches with Liverpool beating Norwich 3-0 on the road and Burnley 2-0 at home.

Chelsea looked the business last week when they beat Arsenal 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium and they saw off Crystal Palace 3-0 in their opening encounter at Stamford Bridge.

Last season it was the away team that won on each occasion, Chelsea winning this fixture 1-0 and Liverpool winning 2-0 at Chelsea.

Liverpool 15/10

Draw 47/20

Chelsea 19/10

Suggested Bet: Chelsea win at 19/10

Liverpool have started well, but I am not convinced they are anything close to the title winning side of 2 seasons ago. Chelsea looked very sharp against Arsenal and I think they can bag another win on the road.

SUNDAY

WOLVES v MANCHESTER UNITED

Wolves are 1 of 5 teams who have lost both their opening fixtures, going down 1-0 at home to Tottenham last weekend and prior to that losing 1-0 at Leicester.

Manchester United opened their campaign with a convincing 5-1 victory at home to Leeds, but stuttered somewhat to a 1-1 draw with Southampton on the road last week.

United did the double over Wolves last season winning this fixture 2-1 and winning 1-0 at Old Trafford.

Wolves 37/10

Draw 26/10

Manchester United 8/10

Suggested Bet: Manchester United win at 8/10

United came back down to earth against Southampton, but I think there is enough quality in this squad to get the 3 points against a Wolves side that looks like it could be in for a long and hard season.
