The words top golfers will meet at Augusta National in Georgia this week for the first Major of the year the US Masters. With a heavily stacked field we scan the betting boards for value.
The Course
One of the most iconic courses in the world, Augusta National, will once again test the best of the best. The course has continuously been lengthened over the years, favouring the longer hitters. A key to success at Augusta is your approach shot; being able to land the ball in the right area of the green is essential as the greens are fast and undulating. Whoever can get their putter rolling early on will certainly have a chance at winning. Augusta boasts 4 challenging par 3s where leads can be lost or gained, indicating once again that pure iron striking is essential. The par 72 course plays 6867 metres.

Selections:
Rory McIlroy at 12/1
The four-time major champion has had a career that will go down in history; however, there is one tournament he still needs to win to complete the career grand slam, the Masters. He has come close on many occasions, finishing in the top 10 in 7 of his last 10 starts at Augusta National. He had a disappointing performance last year where he missed the cut, however, this year he has found some good form and comes into this week after a solid 3rd-place finish at last week’s Texas Open, as well as 5 top-25 finishes in his last 5 starts.
Suggested bet: Each way at 12/1 [Paying 6 places]
Jordan Spieth at 22/1
Spieth is no stranger to Augusta, with one win already under his belt (2015), he will be looking for his second green jacket. Jordan Spieth boasts perhaps the most impressive record over the last 10 years at Augusta out of all the golfers in the field. During his last 10 starts, he has finished in the top 5 on 6 occasions, as well as achieving two top 25 finishes. He finished 4th at last year’s Masters and placed 10th at last week's Texas Open.
Suggested bet: Each way at 22/1 [Paying 6 places]
Joaquin Niemann at 28/1
Niemann may not be one of the favourites to win the competition; however, he has been on a hot run of form and can use this momentum to earn a top 10 spot come the end of Sunday. Niemann has finished in the top 5 in 4 of his last 6 starts, as well as securing a 9th place finish last week. He has already won twice this year and will draw upon all of that confidence coming into this week.
Suggested bet: Each Way at 28/1 and a solid strike on a Top 10 finish at 21/10.
Russell Henley at 65/1
Henley was 4th last week and that was his 2nd top 5 finish in his last 3 starts. He also has strong course form and has not been outside the top 30 in his last 5 starts and he had his best finish of 4th last year. He is a golfer who flies under the radar and I fancy him for a big week.
Suggested bet: Each Way at 65/1 and a medium play on a Top 10 finish at 9/2.
