Race 1
HURRICANE CAT cost herself winning last time as she hung outwards in the final 300m. She gets the blinkers fitted for the first time which should keep her mind on the task at hand. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.
AYUWI YUWI showed good speed over 1200m last time, but did not go on with the effort. She drops back to 1000m which will suit her well. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
FLYING REIGN STORM finished 3 lengths behind the second choice last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
Race 2
JET LAVISH set the pace over 1400m on the polytrack last time, but was caught late by Safe And Sound. The daughter of One World steps up to the mile and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she should be hard to peg back.
DEE DAY should have finished closer to the winner last time as she had to be eased at the 100m mark. She finished 0.6 lengths behind
UMZOLOZOLO that day and is 1kg better off at the weights. There should not be much separating the pair at the finish. UMZOLOZOLO stayed on when third over this C&D last time. The daughter of Elusive Fort is a progressive type and she should have further improvement to come.
Race 3
QUANTUM was running on when second in the Listed Off To Stud Stakes last time. She would have come on from the run and will strip a much fitter horse. She takes a drop in class and with Muzi Yeni retaining the ride, she should be the one to beat.
ESCAPE ARTIST’S last three starts have been good. She set the pace over 2000m last time before getting outrun late. She has won over the mile previously and merits healthy respect.
FAIZAH finished 0.4 lengths behind the second choice last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
Race 4
FRENCH FLAME faced a competitive field in the Grade 1 World Pool Moment Of The Day Premiers Champion Stakes. He ran a good race when second over 1600m on this course in his penultimate run. He takes on older rivals but is a horse with ability and with luck in running, he may be the one to beat.
KITCHAKAL finished 0.9 lengths behind HARLEY STREET last time. He is 4.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He will strip much fitter and is one of the leading contenders.
HARLEY STREET won a game race at long odds in his last start over this C&D. He would have come on from the run and with luck from the widest draw, he can follow up with another victory.
Race 5
PLAZA ACCORD stayed on at the finish when fifth over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time. The son of Danon Platina has dropped in the ratings and takes a drop in class. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field from the widest draw and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
IMPOSING won a good race in his last start over this C&D. He returns from a well-deserved 21-week break. Rachel Venniker retains the ride and if not in need of the run, he should throw out a big challenge.
MR HENLEY set the pace over 1200m last time before getting caught in the shadow of the post by Proud Master. Gavin Lerena takes the ride and if suited to 1400m, he may be hard to catch.
Race 6
SUNSET RIOT’S last start can be ignored as one of the jockey’s stirrup leather’s was reported to have broke and the jockey could not ride him out. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. S’manga Khumalo is booked to ride from pole position. He has plenty of scope and may be the one to beat.
PHUTULICIOUS has consistent form lines to his credit. He returns from a 13-week break which would have done him the world of good. He has won twice and finished second once from five starts over this C&D. If not in need of this outing, he should be competitive.
UNITED NATION’S last start can be ignored as he was reported to be not striding out. He won a good race over 1000m on the polytrack in his penultimate run. He has plenty of scope and with just 54kgs on his back, he should give a good account of himself.
Race 7
This is a weak Merit Rated 68 Handicap and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is HAPPY WANDERER from the Lola Crawford stable. He showed good speed over this C&D last time and stayed on to finish third. 4kgs claiming apprentice Damyan Pillay retains the ride and in this field, he can return to winning ways.
BUSTER KEATON is better than his last start as he was reported to be coughing. He has won twice and finished second once from six starts over this distance. On best form shown, he should pose a massive threat.
COTTON RON was a tad disappointing in his last start over this C&D. If finding the form of his penultimate run, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.
Race 8
RAFEEF’S CHOICE’S last two starts have been good. She showed good pace over this C&D last time, but was caught late. She takes a slight drop in class and Tristan Godden may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.
SPIRITED FLIGHT cost herself last time as she stumbled leaving the starting stalls. She finished 0.4 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
EMERALD GREEN stayed on when third over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight can earn another cheque for her patrons
