AFCON group stage wraps up Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and knockout rounds start at the weekend. We also have loads of EPL throughout the week, will put up whatever previews time allows.

Palace v Spurs

Quite fancy Spurs to do alright in this. They have been rubbish for the last few months, but it seems like a good time to Palace with them missing key players and looking a bit fatigued. The fact Spurs are missing a few players doesn't help, but I don't mind taking a bit of a punt at the price

Many of these final round of group matches are a real conundrum with these third place finish qualification spots and some teams having qualified but not secured top spot. Anyway, will try these.

I see we have 2 groups completed where the third place finisher only has 2 points, whilst unlikely looking at the remaining match ups its possible the bottom side in other groups may finish with 3 points and miss out,

Two of the four AFCON final group matches yesterday finished 0-0 so probably smoking my socks here.

Tanzania need at least a draw to have a chance of going through and Tunisia can leak goals. Benin and Senegal have both qualified but top spot in the group gets you a lucky loser in the next round. Been impressed by Nigeria thus far and DRC are a quality side against a leaky Botswana defense.

Nigeria + DR Congo over 1.5 match goals each @ 23/10

With Gabon losing Aubameyang I fancied the Ivory Coast 1-0,2-0,3-0 but the odds of 27/20 are rubbish. I think Ivory Coast and Cameroon would prefer to avoid Bafana in the next round so they would both be going for the win. I fancy Burkina Faso are a much better side than Sudan but they only need the draw and Algeria don't need anything this evening.

Good work in the AFCON again Vann, on to the knockout rounds, the more powerful nations generally coming to the fore, Senegal's half of the draw looks the better one to be in.

Brentford v Tottenham

Followed Vann's picks yesterday, so I've got a nice chunk of cash to throw at this ( cheers Vann ). I fancied Spurs against Palace last time out but went for the safer option of over 1.5 Spurs goals. Bit unlucky not to land, but I did like the fact we played the long ball more than usual as it seemed to catch Palace off guard a bit. Will stick with the goals approach as think both teams should have chances

Have never got back to winning ways on the EPL since the Covid shut down with a result I just don't watch as much anymore. Spurs seem to have less fear of losing away from home so will follow Stokes

Weird 3 0-0 draws in the EPL on New Years, tough going there I thought the Sunderland Spurs games would be raining goals. Great effort from Sunderland though,

A stab at an EPL treble at just under 7/1. Over 2.5 total goals at Villa and also over 2.5 in total at Brighton and then West Ham to score over 1.5 goals at Wolves

Agree on the 0-0 draws Chris. Popped a reasonable chunk on the Spurs bet and they came up with their first 0-0 in 137 matches in the EPL

AFCON

Swerving Senegal. The 16/100 is way too short for an African national match. These sides drew 0-0 earlier this year in a World Cup qualifier and Senegal were virtually at full strength.

Mali v Tunisia
Tunisia one of the more enterprising sides in Africa.They have scored in eight of their last ten matches and all eight have seen both teams score. It is knock out so any score in the first hour should see a goal or two being added before the end.

Never look forward to this match. I'm old enough to remember Don Revie and his gang of thugs. Waited for the team sheets and I see Amorim is going back to 3-4-2-1. Virtually same back seven that Bournemouth popped four past. I think Leeds will be looking forward to this match.
