With only two events remaining in this years DP World Tour season, the field heads to Abu Dhabi for another Rolex Series event. We look at this week’s golf from a betting angle and pick 4 players to take on the bookmakers.
70 players will take to the 1st tee and the top 50 in the rankings will head to Dubai for the season climax.
Course
Yas Links will play host to this week’s tournament for the 3rd time. The relatively new course (opened in 2010) is a links course, something you don’t come by often in this part of the world. Located in the sandy terrain, there are plenty of bunkers as well as sandy hazards throughout the course. Water comes into play on 9 of the 18 holes and accuracy off the tee will be key. The par 72 course plays a long 7,425 yards but because of the heat in the desert, length shouldn’t be a problem for the players.
Past Winners
2023 Victor Perez (France) -18 1 stroke
2022 Thomas Pieters (Belgium) -10 1 stroke
2021* Tyrrell Hatton (England) -18 4 strokes
2020 Lee Westwood (England) -19 2 strokes
2019 Shane Lowry (Ireland) -18 1 stroke
*2019-2021 were held at the Abu Dhabi golf club.
With the top 70 players on the DP World Tour playing this week, competition will be tough. The bookies have Rory McIlroy as favourite to win, trading at 5.50. Tyrrell Hatton follows close behind at 7.50 while fellow Englishman Tommy Fleetwood is trading at 10.00. You can get 17.00 and better the rest of the field.

SELECTIONS:
Nicolai Hojgaard at 46.00
Nicolai has put in three solid results in his last three events, finishing in the top 20 on all three occasions. His best result was two weeks ago where he finished 9th giving him momentum going into this week. He also finished 10th at last years tournament and I am backing him to put in a solid showing this weekend.
Nicolai Hojgaard each way at 46.00 and a larger stake on a top 10 finish at 3.80
Tommy Fleetwood at 10.00
Fleetwood will be back in action this week after a short break. He is coming off the back of back-to-back 3rd place finishes as well as a 12th the week before that. He currently sits 5th in the race to Dubai rankings and will look to get all the points he can before going into next week. Counting against him is some mediocre course form but I am backing him to master it as he has a great game for Links golf.
Tommy Fleetwood each way at 10.00
Min Woo Lee at 23.00
Last year’s runner-up will look to do one better this week as he heads to Abu Dhabi aiming for the win. Lee has been playing some solid golf with a top 10 finish in his penultimate start and a top 30 finish the week after. He also showed his impressive form a few weeks ago at the Presidents Cup and will look to use this momentum going into this weekend.
Min Woo Lee each way at 23.00
Shubhankar Sharma at 126.00
My rank outsider this week gets the nod purely on course form. It has been 6 starts since his last top 20 so Sharma will really need to find something but he clearly loves the course with a 2nd place finish in 2022 and a 7th place last year.
Shubhankar Sharma each way at 126.00 with a bigger play on a top 20 finish at 3.60
