Race 1 

ELEGANTRIX is a daughter of Vercingetorix from the Corne Spies stable with Ryan Munger booked to ride. She is related to multiple winners including The Contractor and Elegant Ice. If not in need of this outing, she should start her career on a positive note.

TENJIKU made the expected natural improvement when third over 1000m on this course last time. The son of Erik The Red will love the extra distance on offer and he should have more to come.

MIGHTY EAGLE is a son of Danon Platina from the Tony Peter stable with Gavin Lerena up. If not too green in running, he should give a good account of himself.

Race 2

DUPONT EMERALD has produced two good runs to date. She ran on well over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of Exceedingly Glam. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Querari is a progressive type and she should give the males a run for their money.

SATYAGRAHA produced a promising debut effort over 1400m at the Vaal. He returns from a 14-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. Should the top choice fluff her lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

FLIGHT ENGINEER was his own worst enemy last time as he over raced in the early stages. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He gets the pacifiers fitted which may do the trick.

Race 3

TAMARISK TREE won a good race in his last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. He has won twice, finished second once and third three times from ten starts on this course. Gavin Lerena retains the ride and the combination can follow up with another victory.

TOTAL SURRENDER is better than his last start in the Non-Black Type WSB Grand Heritage. It must be noted that Pomodoro’s Jet has come out and won again since. He has won twice and finished second twice from eight starts over this distance. Craig Zackey steps back into the saddle and he should find a form return.

HAWKBILL was disappointing in his last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. On his previous two efforts, he would not be a shock winner.

Race 4

MAIN DEFENDER finished 0.25 lengths behind MELECH last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has won three times and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. The son of Pathfork is likely to race on the speed and can notch up his ninth-career victory.

MELECH was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over 1500m on the Vaal Classic course. He has won twice, finished second once and third once from seven starts on this course. Muzi Yeni retains the ride and the combination merit healthy respect.

BARBARESCO ran on strongly when winning his last start over a distance short of his best. The son of Gimmethegreenlight has plenty of class and must be included.

Race 5

GOLDEN SICKLE returned to winning ways over this C&D last time. She showed good speed that day and lasted long enough. She has won five times and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. She would have come on from the outing and with Gavin Lerena retaining the ride, she should find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

CHOCOLATE SOLDIER was an easy winner in the Non-Black Type Racing Today Sophomore 1000 last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. If repeating that effort, he should pose a threat.

ICE STAR is better than her last start as she was reported to be not striding out. On her previous two efforts, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

 

 

Race 6

QUID PRO QUO was super-impressive when winning the Grade 2 Betway Dingaans last time. She quickened up well before getting geared down in the closing stages. The daughter of Lance has plenty of class about her. She is drawn wide in barrier 11, but Piere Strydom should give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle. She is having her first run for the new ownership and should take a power of beating.

SPUMANTE DOLCE is unbeaten from two starts, the latest of which was over this C&D. The daughter of Vercingetorix takes on much stronger, but she looks to be above average and may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

WORLD OF ALICE is better than her last start in the Grade 1 Cartier Paddock Stakes. She is unbeaten from two starts over this C&D. The daughter of One World is likely to be settled near the rear of the field from her wide draw and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

Race 7

FIRE ATTACK ran on from last when 0.7 lengths behind GREATERIX last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The son of Fire Away will love the rise to 1600m and from pole position, he may be the one to side with.

GREATERIX won a good race in the Grade 3 Betway Got The Greenlight Stakes last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. Muzi Yeni is likely to use his early gate speed to overcome the awkward draw of nine and he may be hard to peg back.

LEGEND OF ARTHUR is lightly raced with good form lines to his credit. He returns from a 13-week break which would have done him the world of good. If not in need of the run, it would be no surprise to see him in the winner’s enclosure.

Race 8

NETTLETON produced a strong finish when second in the Grade 3 Betway Lebelo Sprint last time. She has won twice and finished second twice from six starts on this course. She won her previous three outings under Piere Strydom. The daughter of What A Winter may be the one to side with.

PASSAGE OF POWER is a winner of his last two starts. Rachel Venniker takes the 1.5kgs off his back once again and he can bring up the hat-trick.

ONE FELL SWOOP finished 3.8 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 4kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. She is having her peak run today and will be cherry-ripe.

Race 9

SALUTE THE FLAG stayed on at the finish over 1600m on the Vaal Classic course last time. His penultimate run when second over 1600m on this course, was encouraging. The son of Flying The Flag won his only attempt over this C&D. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

SKITTLES SKIES is better than his last start in the Grade 2 Betway Dingaans. On his previous form, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

SPRING TRADITION stayed on when fourth over 1450m on the Inside course last time. The 12-week break may have done him the world of good. He jumps from pole position and must be included in all bets.

Race 10

TOP SEED was an easy winner when shedding his maiden tag at the second time of asking, over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He showed good pace that day, found another kick and won with a ton in hand. The son of Legislate takes on stronger, but he looks to have class about him and should be up to the task at hand.

JUST VAR is better than his last start over 1600m. He has won once and finished second once from three starts over this C&D. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, he should be the one to fill the exacta spot.

SAIL THE SKY’S last three starts have been good. The son of Lancaster Bomber will be staying on at the business end
