RACE 1
THREAD OF LIFE ran a good race when second over 1100m on this course last time. The switch to the polytrack seems to have done the trick. The daughter of Master Of My Fate is a progressive type and she can go one better.
NIKES RAY OF LIGHT finished second over this distance on the turf last time. The blinkers seem to have done the trick. He is carded to race on 16 July 2024 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.
BROOKSIDER hails from the visiting Vaughan Marshall stable. He has not shown much promise to date but meets the right field today. It is encouraging that Luyolo Mxothwa is booked to ride and from his good draw of three, he should have improvement to come.
RACE 2
BEST INTENTIONS should have won her last start as the saddle was reported to have slipped in running. She has finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. The daughter of Rafeef meets the right field and she can go one better.
BELLA ATTRICE has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. She is back against her own sex and is a solid back up for the Gavin Smith stable.
BLUEBERRY BLUE’S last start over 1100m was fair. She showed good speed that day but did not go on with the effort. The drop to 1000m should suit her well and she may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.
RACE 3
This is a weak Open Maiden field and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is IGUGULETHU from the Gavin Smith stable. He should have finished closer in his local debut over 1000m in a work riders contest. The blinkers and tongue-tie have been removed for this outing. The step up to 1300m should suit him well. If taking to the Polytrack surface, he can win a race of this nature.
HAT HOT HAT raced from a handy position over this C&D last time but found one too good in the form of Magic Prince. He gets the services of Richard Fourie who will give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle. He is carded to race on 16 July 2024 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.
COLONEL GREEN finished 6.5 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 4.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
RACE 4
WILLIAM THE FIRST showed good improvement in his last start over 1200m on this course. He raced from a handy position, moved up well but was caught late. The son of William Longsword is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. He is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.
COASTAL PATH should have won his last start as he hung inwards and shifted away from the crop in the closing stages. He is in a good space and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
LT ALEXANDER finished 2.25 lengths behind PASHTUNWALI last time. He is 7kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.
Race 5
LADY ZULTANITE was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over this C&D. She finished off her race strongly and got up where it matters most. The daughter of Canford Cliffs received a six- pound penalty for that victory. She meets a similar line-up this afternoon and can follow up.
STATE OF MIND finished 4.1 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 3kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
JAM JAM ran a fair race in her last start over 1600m on the turf. She was slow into stride but stayed on to finish fifth. The daughter of Duke Of Marmalade should have no issues with the rise to 2000m and from pole position, she cannot be ignored.
Race 6
HUGSANDHIGHFIVES showed improvement in her first run for the Gavin Smith stable. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. The blinkers seem to have done the trick and she should strip much fitter. She has won on the Hollywoodbets Greyville Polytrack previously and should be involved at the finish.
MEENEERA finished 0.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. However, she is drawn widest of all which is an obvious concern.
SUCHALIFE is better than her last start in the Listed Lady’s Slipper Stakes. She has plenty of scope and despite taking on older rivals, she should give a good account of herself.
RACE 7
PARIS LASS is a winner of her last two starts, the latest of which was in the Listed Milkwood Stakes. She showed good speed that day and found more where it matters most. She does get the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Nirvan Nastili which will assist her cause. She is in a good space and can notch up the hat-trick.
TEATRO finished 0.35 lengths behind EVIES FIRST last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He races well on this course and is one of the leading contenders.
EVIES FIRST has fair recent form lines to his name. He has won once, finished second twice and third three times from eight starts over this C&D. He is carded to race on 16 July 2024 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.
RACE 8
DAWN OF GOLD finished 0.55 lengths behind COLORAMA last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She has won once and finished second twice from five starts on this course. 4kgs claiming apprentice Nirvan Nastili retains the ride and from her handy draw of five, she should be competitive.
COLORAMA should have finished closer to the winner last time as she had to be steadied at the 200m mark. She has won once, finished second twice and third once from as many starts over this C&D. With a bit of luck in running, she should be competitive.
BYTHELITEOFTHEMOON has run two fair races since winning her Maiden. She jumps from a good draw of three and if Richard Fourie is able to switch her off early, she can show
