Race 1
LA PULGA made the expected natural improvement when second over 1200m. He showed good speed that day before getting outrun late by Worldly. The son of Pomodoro is a progressive type and in this field, he should take a power of beating.
TERMINATOR ran a good race when second over this C&D last time. He is having his peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
MIND MAP ran a fair race over 1250m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time. The son of Master Of My Fate tries the 1400m and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should have more to come.
Race 2
PRINCESS IZZY has very good consistent form lines to her credit. She finished 0.75 lengths behind ENEMY TERRITORY last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She jumps from a good draw of three and will be doing her best work at the finish.
ENEMY TERRITORY set the pace over this C&D last time and found extra where it matters most. She received the minimum penalty for that victory. She is in a good space and may be hard to peg back.
FUN ZONE’S last two starts have been good. She lost a length leaving the start last time and stayed on at the finish. If jumping on terms, she should be involved at the finish.
Race 3
FUTURE VARIETY rallied late when second over 1200m in the Grade 2 Khaya Stables Diadem Stakes last time. He has won twice and finished second four times from seven starts on this course. He returns from a 23-week break and if not in need of this outing, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
SILVER FALCON showed some signs of a form return in his last start over 1600m. He won his only attempt over this C&D. He is ideally suited to the wet going and he must be included in all bets.
PORT LOUIS is better than his last start over 1400m. He returns from an 11-week break which would have done him the world of good. If fit, he should feature.
Race 4
FUTURE PRINCE ran a good race when third in the Non-Black Type Winter Mile last time. He jumped awkwardly when leaving the start and stayed on at the finish. The tongue-tie seems to have done the trick. If getting away to a clean start, he can return to winning ways.
INNAMORARE fought hard for his last victory over this C&D. He received a four-pound penalty for that victory. If not in need of the run, he should be involved at the finish.
CHARLIE CROKER finished 3.45 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
Race 5
SPIRIT’S UNITE finished 0.75 lengths behind GOLD INDEX last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
GOLD INDEX won a good race in his last start over this C&D. He received a three-pound penalty for that victory. With a bit of luck in running, he can follow up with another victory.
LIKETHECLAPPERS is better than his last start when having to overcome a wide draw. He has cracked a good draw of three and if finding the form of his penultimate run, he should be involved at the finish.
Race 6
TRES CHIC finished 1.1 lengths behind ROYAL LYTHAM last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today. There should not be much separating the pair at the finish. Luyolo Mxothwa is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.
ROYAL LYTHAM won a game race in her last start over this C&D. She received a two-pound penalty for that victory. She is in a good space and with Grant van Niekerk retaining the ride, she merits healthy respect.
GRUE OF ICE finished 0.6 lengths behind the second choice last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
Race 7
SOOTY ran a good race when third over this C&D last time. He was unlucky not to have won that day as he was held up for a run between the 400m mark and 300m mark. He has won once, finished second once and third once from four starts over this C&D. With a bit of luck in running, he should be competitive.
GREAT CAT ran on powerfully when winning her last start over this C&D. She returns from a 14-week break which may have done her the world of good. If not in need of the run, she should give the males a run for their money.
SHIFTING PATH ran on powerfully when winning his last start over 1100m on this course. He does take on stronger, but is in a good space and should be up to the task at hand. The son of Pathfork will be mowing down the frontrunners at the business end.
Race 8
BATON ROUGE set the pace over this C&D last time and stayed on to finish third. He won a good race over 2000m on this course, in his penultimate run. The son of Vercingetorix takes a drop in class and despite his big mass, he may be hard to peg back.
PRIME VENTURE ran on from last when winning his last start over 1600m. He should be ideally suited to 1800m and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
NAUSHON finished 2.15 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 3kgs better off at the weights today. The widest draw is the biggest concern but with luck in running, he can earn a cheque for his patrons.
Race 9
AZZURRI may not have seen out the 1800m last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He takes a drop in class and will love the return to the mile. It is encouraging that Grant van Niekerk retains the ride and he may be the one to side with.
MY BESTIE has shown signs of a form return in his last three starts. He is ideally suited to the wet going. The 7-year-old gelding is carded to race on 1 August 2024 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.
RADICCHIO finished 0.45 lengths behind FLY FUTURA last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He jumps from a good draw of two and if not in need of the run, he should go close
