Race 1
MAPHAKA caught the eye when second on debut over this C&D. He lost a length leaving the start but ran on strongly at the finish. The son of Gimmethegreenlight would have come on from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should go one better.
MY BOY LOLLIPOP ran a good race when second with the blinkers fitted last time. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
SOVEREIGN COMMAND showed good improvement when third over 1000m on the Polytrack last time. He returns from a 13-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. He is a progressive type and should have more to come if fit.
Race 2
IZIBULO cost herself winning last time as she hung in the closing stages. Her penultimate run when second over 1800m at Hollywoodbets Greyville catches the eye. The daughter of Lancaster Bomber is a progressive type and if keeping on a straight line, she should go one better.
SAFARI LODGE ran a fair race when third over 1400m last time. The daughter of Fire Away will love the rise to the mile and with luck in running, she should have more to come.
GRAND OCCASION finished 2.4 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 1.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around.
Race 3
SUN IN MY POCKET took on winners in her last start over 1200m on the Polytrack. She caught the eye when second on debut over this distance on the Polytrack. The daughter of Erupt will love the drop to 1000m and back in Maiden Company, she should be hard to peg back.
HURRICANE CAT was a tad disappointing in her last start. Her penultimate run when second over this C&D was encouraging. She has scope and should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
OH YOKO ran a fair race in her last start over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Greyville. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Danon Platina is capable of finishing in the placings.
Race 4
NIGHT ROCKER is better than his disappointing latest effort. His debut effort when second under Tristan Godden catches the eye. The son of Global View will love the rise to 1400m. He has plenty of scope and from his good draw of three, he may be the one to side with.
GOOD LIVING should have finished closer to the winner last time as he hung inwards in the final 300m. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. If keeping on a straight line, he should be competitive.
TERIYAKI has consistent form lines to his credit. The obvious concern is his wide draw but Athandiwe Mgudlwa may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
Race 5
MAGMA MAGIC was unlucky not to have won his last start as his pilot dropped his crop in the closing stages. Mathew Thackeray retains the ride and despite the widest draw, he will be looking to make amends.
MC DAZZLER was disappointing in his first run as a gelding. He finished second in his previous two efforts. The son of Rafeef gets the blinkers fitted for the first time which should keep his mind on the task at hand.
SUPER CASANOVA showed some improvement in his last start over this distance on the polytrack. He should have finished closer that day as he was switched for running room at the 400m mark. He is coming along the right way and with luck in running, he can finish in the placings.
Race 6
MAMAS BABY was doing her best work late when sixth over 1200m last time. She won her only attempt over this C&D. The daughter of Rafeef takes a drop in class and with Serino Moodley in the saddle, she can return to winning ways.
HEREINAFTER is a winner of her last three starts, the latest of which was over this C&D. She shows good speed in her races and may be hard to peg back. She is carded to race on 31 July 2024 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.
PANTEA has good recent form lines to her name. It must be noted that the form of her last outing has been franked. If not too far out of her ground at the halfway mark, she should be involved at the finish.
Race 7
MASCHERINA was an easy winner of her last start over 1500m on this course. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight received an eight-pound penalty for that victory. She jumps from a good draw of two and can follow up with another victory.
CAPE LIGHTS who hails from the visiting Robbie Sage stable is the second choice. She was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over 1400m at Turffontein. If all went well with her travels, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
ELEMBEE may not have seen out the 2000m last time. She has won twice, finished second once and third twice from eight starts over this distance. The daughter of Pomodoro will be mowing down the frontrunners.
Race 8
GORGEOUS GIRL set the pace over 1600m last time and won with a ton in hand. She has won twice, finished second twice and third once from five starts on this course. She meets a similar line-up this afternoon and from pole position, she can follow up.
NOBLE STORM stayed on when second over 1200m last time. The 6-year-old mare runs well for Siphesihle Hlengwa and should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
KISSHOTEN’S last two starts have been fair. She is having her peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. With a bit of luck from her awkward draw of nine, she can feature
