He was, in fact, a head adrift of RESPECTABLE REBEL when 3rd that day but is now 3.5kgs to the good and can turn things around. That formline has worked out well.

KINGSTON MINES was given a great ride when returning to winning ways in the marathon Glenlair Trophy over two miles last time and the veteran stayer deserved the nine-week absence. This extra distance will be no issue for the chestnut gelding who could again enjoy the run of the race in the absence of a natural pacesetter. The Greeff inmate does appear to have this contest at his mercy.

The speedy CAPTAIN MAROONED expectedly cruised to his maiden victory on local debut over six furlongs and that form has worked out really well with the runner-up Coyote Creek winning easily subsequently, before finishing a smart 3rd in a feature. This lightly raced and injury plagued four-year old has decent scope for progress and seems rather lowly rated on his handicap debut. He should strip fitter and has strong claims of following up over this minimum trip.

MR FIRE EYES was slow into stride on his dismal local debut when perhaps finding an extra furlong too far for him but he will be an entirely different proposition over this minimum distance here. That last formline has worked out really well and this Crusade gelding posted some smart efforts over this trip on the Highveld. He can bounce back to best from his favourable draw.
