Race 1

DECEPTION PASS produced a promising debut effort over 1200m at the Vaal. He understandably raced green but the manner in which he stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The son of Ideal World hails from the visiting Mike and Adam Azzie yard and he would have come on from his first experience. If settled into his new surroundings, he may be the one to beat from barrier three.

IGUGULETHU showed good improvement in his last start over this C&D. He has been gelded since that outing. The son of Erupt is a progressive type and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

TWENTYTWENTYVISION ran a good race in his last start over this C&D. He raced from just off the pace, challenged strongly but found one too good in the form of Raf’s Rocket. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, he should be competitive.

Race 2

QHAWEKAZI ran a good race on debut at long odds over this C&D. She did not get away to a clean start, took time to find her feet but the manner in which she finished off her race was eye-catching. The daughter of William Longsword would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should be the one to beat.

BRIGHT DUCHESS was running on when third over this C&D last time. The daughter of Duke Of Marmalade is a progressive type and with luck in running, she should pose a threat.

QUICK TRIP found one too good in the form of October Morn in the Listed Perfect Promise Sprint last time. She returns from a 17-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. If not in need of this outing, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 3

CALL TO UNITE is the best bet on the card. He produced a promising debut effort over 1250m on this course. The manner in which he finished off his race was eye-catching. The son of Vercingetorix would have gained from the experience and should love the rise to the mile. Grant van Niekerk takes the ride and he should improve to find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

SALUTE THE FLAG hails from the visiting Candice Dawson stable. He was green on debut, but finished off his race nicely. He will be suited to the mile and should make the natural progression under Gavin Lerena.

STARS IN HEAVEN should have finished closer to the winner last time as he was cramped for galloping room at the 250m mark. He tries the mile and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 4

TRIP OF FORTUNE ran a fair race in the Grade 1 The HKJC Champions Cup last time. He returns from a well-deserved 12-week break which would have done him the world of good. The 5yo gelding is unbeaten from three starts over this C&D. He races well fresh and can notch up his tenth career victory.

COSMIC HIGHWAY was his own worst enemy in the Grade 3 Hollywoodbets Matchem Stakes last time as he over raced in the early stages. He would have come on from the run and should strip a much fitter horse.

WITHOUT QUESTION was disappointing in the Grade 1 Hollywoodbets Durban July. The 16-week break would have done him the world of good and on previous form, he should have the class to be competitive in this contest.

Race 5

BEACH BOMB was an impressive winner in the Listed WSB Irridescence Stakes last time. She raced from a handy position, quickened up well and drew clear of the opposition. She returns from a well-deserved 13-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. The daughter of Lancaster Bomber has class about her and with Aldo Domeyer back in the saddle, she should notch up the hat-trick.

GIMMETHATPEARL won on debut easier than the official margin suggests. The manner in which she finished off her race that day was eye-catching. She does take on stronger, but looks to be above average and may be up to the task at hand.

RASCOVA should have finished closer to the winner in the Grade 1 Douglas Whyte Thekwini Stakes last time as she received a bump at the 200m mark. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and if fit, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 6

TAIL OF THE COMET was super-impressive when winning his last start over 1450m on the Turffontein Inside course. Despite the noseband becoming detached, the manner in which he drew clear of the opposition was eye-catching. The son of Gimmethegreenlight has plenty of class about him and if suited to this course, he should take a power of beating.

JUST BE LEKKER was not disgraced when third in the Grade 2 Betway Joburg Spring F & M Challenge last time. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. She will give the males a run for their money

COASTAL COMMANDER followed up his maiden win with a good fourth-place finish over this C&D. If Bernard Fayd’Herbe is able to switch him off early, he should give a good account of himself.

Race 7

MR COBBS finished 0.2 lengths behind MUFASA last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has won twice, finished second twice and third once from six starts over this C&D. Aldo Domeyer steps back into the saddle and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

MUFASA won a good race in his last start over this C&D. He would have come on from the run and should be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.

TEMPTING FATE finished 1.95 lengths behind the second choice in the race referred to above. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

Race 8

DEAN STREET should have finished closer to the winner last time as he had to be switched for running room at the 400m mark. The manner in which he has been racing recently suggests that he should have no issues with the drop to 1000m. He takes a drop-in class and with Bernard Fayd’Herbe in the saddle, he can return to winning ways

OCTOBER MORN may not have seen out the 1500m last time. Her penultimate run when winning the Listed Perfect Promise Sprint was eye-catching. She is a filly with a lot of class about her and she should give the males a run for their money.

ICY BLAST stayed on when fourth in the Grade 2 Umkhomazi Stakes last time. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. Richard Fourie rides on his return and he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
