RACE 1

VUVUZELA UMLILO has produced three encouraging efforts since relocating to the Eastern Cape. He had to overcome the widest draw of 13 last time, but raced from a handy position and stayed on to finish third. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He jumps from a mid-field draw of seven and in this line-up, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

OPENING CEREMONY should have finished closer to the winner last time as he had to be steadied at the 600m mark. He finished 1.35 lengths behind

CHASING CHEETAHS, three runs ago. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. If jumping on terms, he should be one of the leading contenders.

RACE 2

AND WE DANCED is a winner of her last five starts, the latest of which was in the Listed Lady’s Bracelet over this C&D. She has won three times and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. The daughter of Pathfork is in a very good space and she should notch up her eighth career victory.

BELLE OF BELIZE has very good consistent form lines to her credit. It must be noted that the form of her last outing has been franked. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

PHOENIX finished 1.55 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. If jumping on terms, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

RACE 3

PONDEROSA PINE ran a decent race in her local debut over 1400m on this course. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The daughter of Silvano will enjoy the rise to 2000m and with Gavin Lerena in the saddle, she can shed her maiden tag.

RED CENTRE has shown good improvement in her last two starts on this course. She rallied late when second over 1400m last time. The daughter of Judpot should have no issues with the rise to 2000m and from her good draw of two, she should be one of the leading contenders.

RACINANTE was touched off in her last start over 1600m on this course. Chase Maujean retains the ride and if jumping on terms, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

RACE 4

PEACE IN OUR WORLD finished 1.5 lengths behind JAEGER MOON last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line. He finished 0.1 lengths behind JACOB’S LADDER in his penultimate run. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.

JAEGER MOON ran a good race when third over 2000m on this course last time. He tries the 2700m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should pose a threat.

BARAK finished 0.45 lengths behind JACOB’S LADDER last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.

RACE 5

QUASIMODO followed up his maiden victory with a good third-place finish over this C&D. He was slow into stride, but the manner in which he finished off his race was encouraging. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and if jumping on terms, he should be the horse to beat.

ALMIGHWAAR was running on when third over this distance on the polytrack last time. He has won once and finished third three times from five starts over this distance. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

LIGHT WITHOUT was an easy winner of his last start over 2400m in yielding conditions, on this course. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

RACE 6

CHERRY ANO followed up his impressive debut victory with a hard fought win over 1400m on this course. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Capetown Noir should have no issues with the step up to 1600m. He is a horse with ability and in this field, should keep his unbeaten record intact.

ALADO‘S PRIDE ran a fair race against stronger company in his last start over this distance on the polytrack. He has won once and finished second twice from five starts over this C&D. Gavin Lerena takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

HONEST QUEST finished 0.5 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

RACE 7

DAME OF FLAMES should have finished closer to the winner last time as she had to be steadied at the 200m mark. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The daughter of Futura takes a drop in class. She is drawn wide in barrier 13, but is likely to be settled near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

ROSE OF BAYEUX is better than her last start over 1200m on this course. She has won three times, finished second once and third twice from seven starts over this C&D. Her best form has been under Luyolo Mxothwa and the combination merit healthy respect.

ANCESTRAL PRAYER was caught late when second over this C&D last time. She is back against her own sex and if repeating that effort, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

RACE 8

This is a weak Merit Rated 66 Handicap for the girls and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is GLASS SHOES from the Sharon Kotzen stable. Her last start is best ignored as she was reported to be not striding out. The daughter of Vercingetorix won her debut effort over this C&D. She does take a drop in class and if putting her best foot forward, she can return to winning ways.

QUICK COUNT has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in her last outing has come out and won since. Richard Fourie takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

SPLASH OF GREEN is better than her last start as the jockey reported something to be amiss. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. She makes her stable debut and on best form, she can finish in the money.

RACE 9

COASTAL PATH has shown good signs of a form return in his last two outings. The manner in which he stayed on at the finish over 1000m on the polytrack last time was encouraging. The son of Global View won his only attempt over this C&D. Richard Fourie retains the ride and he may be the one to close off the meeting.

CRUZADOR was slow into stride last time, but ran on well to finish second. He takes a drop back in class and if repeating that effort, he should pose a massive threat.

JOYOUS JUBILEE followed up his maiden victory with a good fourth-place finish over this C&D. He meets a similar type of field today and has plenty of scope
